Happy to share that our paper on Deep Learning-based anomaly classification in Directed Energy Deposition was published in IEEE Access! Hyperspectral imaging allowed us to capture various types of melt pool signatures. A modern ResNet architecture was trained to classify these high-dimensional inputs and detect unusual signatures with great accuracy. The feature importance of the spatial and spectral data was investigated using Class Activation Maps.
