The Metropolitan Golf Club is one of Australia's leading private clubs, positioned on the famous Melbourne Sandbelt.

About us

Situated on the renowned 'Melbourne Sandbelt', Metropolitan is widely recognized as one of the finest championship courses in Australia. Having hosted seven Australian PGA Championships, seven Australian Opens, two Women's Australian Opens, numerous Victorian Opens, Australian Amateur Championships, and more recently the 2018 World Cup of Golf, Metropolitan is no stranger to international acclaim and has earned its reputation as one of the world's finest year-round groomed golf courses. With hospitality and dining experiences to match our championship course, and a beautifully appointed and stocked golf retail experience, Metropolitan is indeed a world-class venue. As a private members club, we warmly welcome guests and visitors from across the globe, and also welcome corporate functions both on the golf course and in our modern Clubhouse with wonderful vistas across the lawn to the 18th green and beyond. Our brand new coaching pavilion, named in honour of golf professional and Life Member, Brian Twite OAM, is available for members and visitors to improve their love of the game. An enormous Short Game Area, practice green and range, as well as our short course 'Metro Mini' are all fabulous additions to the Metropolitan experience, of which we are incredibly proud. Junior development and the encouragement of women to the game are both key focus areas, and within our Strategic Plan, we are pleased to formally deliver award-winning programs on an annual basis such as our Women's Tuition Program and Junior Scholarship Program, both offering pseudo-membership experiences. School holiday programs for children and youth, and regular clinic offerings for members and visitors alike regularly feature as part of a comprehensive suite of coaching services available from numerous male and female PGA-qualified professionals resident at the Club. We look forward to warmly welcoming you to Metropolitan sometime very soon.

Yesterday brought an excellent example of how taking that extra step in delivering outstanding customer service can reap rewards. Brandon Rave is a multi-award-winning teaching professional at The Metropolitan Golf Club. Through one of his clients, Brandon had the opportunity to introduce Formula 1 and Williams Racing driver Carlos Sainz to the Club. With the club's support, Brandon ensured his availability to host the group throughout the day, providing discrete and personalised access for these VIP'S to truly relax and enjoy themselves, both on-course and in our beautiful Clubhouse over lunch. Perhaps it was Brandon's expert on-course tips, but we heard that Carlos AKA 'Smooth Operator' is also a pretty smooth golfer! 🌶️ As Mark Twain said... "Why not go out on a limb? That's where the fruit is!" Thank you, Brandon. The Metropolitan Golf Club Visit Victoria Tourism Australia Formula 1 The Melbourne Sandbelt PGA of Australia Golf Australia

The Women's Amateur Asia Pacific (WAAP) is our region's most prestigious women's amateur tournament. Established by The R&A and the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, the WAAP serves as a platform to identify and support emerging talent while providing a pathway for Asia-Pacific's elite female amateurs to compete at the highest level. This week, members of The Metropolitan Golf Club witnessed history as their seven-year member and five-time successive Women's Club Champion (from the age of 13!) Jeneath Wong shot incredible rounds of 65, 69, 64, and 68 to become the 2025 Champion! Jeneath's victory earns her coveted invitations to several of the world’s most prestigious tournaments, including: ️♀️ AIG Women’s Open (The Open) ️♀️ The Amundi Evian Championship ️♀️ The Chevron Championship ️♀️ Hana Financial Group Championship ️♀️ ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open ️♀️ The 122nd Women’s Amateur Championship ️♀️ Augusta National Women’s Amateur In a remarkable display of skill and composure, Jeneath made clutch birdies on the 17th and 18th holes to secure a one-shot victory. This is an extraordinary accomplishment, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Jeneath as she embarks on this exciting new chapter. We look forward to watching her star continue to rise on the international stage. Jeneath has been living in California these past two years, on full scholarship at the prestigious Pepperdine University, Malibu, where she has achieved outstanding individual and team success. On the back of such an exciting WAAP victory, we cannot wait to celebrate with Jeneath on her return to Australia. On behalf of all at Metropolitan, congratulations, Jeneath! https://lnkd.in/gWz3N_6x

  • The Swanton Trophy at The Metropolitan Golf Club marks the official opening of the men's season, bringing members together in a spirited contest between the Captain’s Team and the President’s Team. This year’s tournament was particularly historic, as it featured the first-ever female President in the club’s esteemed history. With Kim Hastie’s participation, the Swanton Trophy witnessed a groundbreaking moment, reflecting the Club’s evolving legacy while maintaining its deep-rooted traditions. It was a day of fun competition, history, and celebration—a fitting start to the season.

  • In what could only be described as brutal conditions, 12-year Metropolitan member 𝗦𝘂 𝗢𝗵 has won the 2025 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽! Huge winds gusted across the southern ocean hitting the Bellarine Peninsula’s 13th Beach with full force, and it took the patience, resilience, and poise of a seasoned champion to post a solid two-over-par 74 (must have felt like 10-under) to be the Clubhouse leader. What followed was remarkable! Congratulations Su!

  • Metro's own, Ruben Lal (our assistant golf professional), did us proud in the pre-Christmas Victorian Blitz Golf tournament, fighting off some serious talent to take his victory!   He played alongside a stable of celebrity competitors, including horse racing royalty Damien Oliver, cricket champion Glenn Maxwell, Melbourne Demon Steven May, Carlton brothers Elijah and Ollie Hollands, and Rugby League fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen.   "I didn't really expect too much, as I haven't been practicing and playing all that much lately," Ruben said about his win.   "It was really special having the kids there, and celebrating with them! It was a very fun day out for the whole family."

  • 38-year member, former board member, and proud advocate for women in golf, Kim Hastie, has made history as the first female President at The Metropolitan Golf Club. It’s an iconic step in the Club’s rich history, that was recognised in an article by Golf Australia. “There’s a definite shift. It’s for the good, and it’s for the right reasons… We needed to get some more women into these leadership roles.” Read more here: https://shorturl.at/qLLVi
