A great article in The Hotel Conversation, about the official opening of Hotel Indigo- Auckland. Studio.SC were proud to lead the architectural design of the 43-storey tower and the interior design of the hotel rooms and branded residences. The interior design takes inspiration from the history of the site through industrial features that rise from a refurbished heritage podium. Bold and creative interior design solutions, including elements from vintage car detailing and the site’s historical use, are layered with subtle local references to enrich the story of the hotel. The 225-room hotel and branded residence, F&B offers creates a new destination for midtown Auckland. Through our shared commitment of our client 94 Feet Pty Ltd and key collaborators including Neoscape, Icon and many others, it’s great to see the project be celebrated and enjoyed by the community. Studio.SC were honoured to attend the reception hosted by the Australian War Memorial to acknowledge those involved in the New Entrance project. The event was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the years of collaboration and care that went into shaping this significant addition to one of the country's most important public institutions. It was a privilege to see the project so generously recognised by Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and to celebrate alongside fellow consultants, builders, and the AWM team. We're proud of the role our team at Studio.SC played in bringing this new chapter of the Memorial to life! Edward Salib, Nicholas Bandounas, Doug Southwell, Ornella Bucceri, Emma Leckie

In July 2019, Studio.SC stood as underdogs in a national design competition, tasked with reimagining the entry to one of Australia’s most sacred spaces—the Australian War Memorial With deep respect for its legacy and an unwavering belief in our vision, we set out to create an experience that would honor history while welcoming the future. Six years on, we stood beneath that vision we once imagined, as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese officially opened the new entrance. It was a moment of reflection, pride, and gratitude—a culmination of years of hard work and collaboration to shape a space that will stand for generations, a space that will extend the legacy of one of Australia’s most culturally significant landmarks. Architecture is a long and challenging road, but moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Words can’t fully capture the euphoria of seeing our vision tell its story and become reality. Prime Minister opens Australian War Memorial entrance ‘for all’ - Marking a significant milestone in the evolution of this iconic national institution, the design will deepen visitor engagement and enhance accessibility. Officially unveiled in a moving ceremony, the Prime Minister reflected on the importance of this transformation: “This is a great national capital. This Australian War Memorial is the most important building in our nation — not just because of its beauty, and I congratulate all of the remarkable architects, planners, and construction workers who built this magnificent extension, but because of what it represents. What this new entrance does is open... the Memorial’s heart even wider to all Australia. It is my great and indeed humble privilege to declare it open today.” The Director of the Memorial, Matt Anderson, said: “This new Main Entrance is a key stage in enabling the Memorial to be more accessible to more visitors in the decades ahead. At the centre of the Main Entrance is the striking glass and steel Oculus, which floods the space with daylight, and through which visitors can glimpse the copper dome above the Hall of Memory. A mathematical inversion of the Memorial’s dome, the Oculus – which is Latin for “eye” – complements the heritage values of the original building." Studio.SC is honoured to have contributed to this significant and enduring addition to one of Australia's most important national landmarks.
