A fabulous afternoon spent at the Canberra Cyber Careers Symposium hosted by the Canberra Cyber Hub, supporting school and university students and early career job seekers. With a range of exhibits from cyber employers, recruiters, training and education organisations, not for profit organisations (SheLeadsTech Canberra, ISACA, AWSN - Australian Women in Security Network) and government, alongside panel conversations and hands on activities, I was in great company! The challenges of entry level roles (and how to secure on!) was a common question, and workforce diversity was another hot topic of conversation! Networking on a Saturday? I WANT MORE! I had the pleasure of attending SheLeadsTech Canberra's Sip and Paint afternoon on Saturday at Wildbark Australia. It was so refreshing. It was thoughtful and inclusive. It was an incredible opportunity to meet other individuals in technology and tap into our inner Picasso, all with a beautiful backdrop of Mulligan's Flat. This is what I loved the most: ✨ By hosting on a Saturday afternoon, parents who typically miss weekday networking events could attend without the usual workday rush. ✨ Hosting an event centred around an activity provided a relaxed environment, making networking more comfortable for those who find traditional forms of networking harder. ✨ The casual weekend setting allowed everyone to connect authentically in a way that's difficult to do during hectic weekday events.
