To ensure that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted.

About us

Our Story Share the Dignity was founded in 2015 after it was identified that there was a genuine need to provide vulnerable women in our community with essential sanitary products. It was reported that these women are often forced to choose between buying food to eat or buying expensive sanitary items to get through their periods. Women and children, either homeless or in shelters, were having to clean themselves in public toilets and use paper towels to create makeshift period pads. This is not and should never be okay. From a grassroots local community initiative to a national charity, Share the Dignity has struck a chord with the Australian public and continues to evolve in order to provide for the needs of at-risk women and children. Working tirelessly with over 5000 volunteers, the charity has been able to deliver over 3 million packets of pads and tampons and over 600,000 essential filled handbags to Australian women and girls. Share the Dignity continues to grow with the support of passionate volunteers and the generosity of Australian businesses, ensuring that everyone is afforded the dignity in life that many of us take for granted.

  • This powerful and important article by Tabitha Lean and Debbie Kilroy, published to Croakey Health Media, highlights the abhorrent conditions of menstruators in one of Queensland's women's prisons, after being exposed by the Queensland Ombudsman recently, including restricted access to menstrual products and lack of basic hygiene. This is a human rights issue, and no one should be denied the ability to manage their period with dignity. At Share the Dignity, we believe access to period products is a basic need, not a privilege, and we continue to advocate for systemic change to ensure dignity for all. • Trigger Warning: Maternal and infant mortality, childbirth complications. At Share the Dignity, we believe that every woman, girl, and menstruator deserves the right to access safe, dignified healthcare, no matter where they live. Today, on World Health Day, we’re reflecting on heartbreaking statistics from the World Health Organization: • 300,000 women die each year from complications during childbirth • 2 million babies don’t survive their first month of life • Another 2 million are stillborn These are not just numbers. They are lives. Many of these deaths are preventable with access to proper healthcare, hygiene, and support. Our work, ensuring women, girls, and menstruators in Australia have access to period products, essential care, and dignity, is part of a much bigger picture. Health equity starts with dignity, and dignity starts with the basics. We stand in solidarity with organisations and communities around the world advocating for healthcare as a human right. Because no one should have to choose between health and dignity.

They do incredible on-the-ground work for those doing it tough in their community. 2. Illawara Multicultural Services received 480 period products and were so grateful with their three huge bags! This team offer essential services to linguistically and culturally diverse communities. A huge THANK YOU to those who donated and help to make all of this possible. We couldn't do what we do without you! 💝
