This morning, the Storm Executive Club attended their first networking breakfast for the 2025 season.   It was a great opportunity to continue to foster and develop relationships built across the program so far, with an array of networking events and experiences still to come for the rest of the year. Special thanks to Broadside Lawyers, NEC Australia and Maserati Melbourne for making it all possible, as well Atlantic Group ® for hosting!

  • 🔐 Security isn’t just about protection—it’s about keeping things running. CISOs ranked building a secure and trusted organisation as their #1 priority in ADAPT Research. But in high-stakes industries like cash management, security isn’t just about stopping threats—it’s about making sure nothing slows down. For Prosegur that meant a network built for speed, resilience, and total reliability. With cash in transit, real-time security monitoring, and transactions happening nationwide, a slow or unreliable connection isn’t just inconvenient—it’s a business risk. When every second matters, does your network help or hinder? • 🗓 While Australia waits until July to ring in the new financial year, NEC Corporation – as a global company headquartered in Japan – kicks things off on 1 April. 🌏 That means FY2025 has officially begun for NEC Group companies around the world, including us here at NEC Australia. To mark the new fiscal year, our global President and CEO, Takayuki Morita, has shared a message reflecting on the year ahead and our shared vision for a more secure, fair and sustainable future. 👉 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/dR3AGhr4

  • 🚗 In the fast lane of business, connectivity drives efficiency – and a well-oiled network keeps everything running smoothly. That’s why NEC helped a major global car brand shift gears and accelerate its Australian dealership network for greater efficiency and security. 🛑 But enough of the car puns… How did we actually help this automotive leader stay connected, streamline operations, and enhance customer service? Managing vehicle inventory, service bookings, and dealership operations across the country requires a secure and reliable network that dealerships can depend on. 🚧 Customer Challenges - Reduce ICT costs so dealerships can focus on growth. - Strengthen security and ensure data protection. - Provide real-time access to vehicle and service inventory across the dealer network. 💡 NEC Solution With NEC’s Network as a Service (NaaS) solution, this customer achieved: ✅ A reliable and efficient Dealer Access Network to reduce operational inefficiencies. ✅ Enhanced security and dedicated network access between headquarters and dealerships. ✅ Real-time visibility of vehicle inventory, reducing overstocking and improving sales. 🔗 Learn more about how NEC is helping businesses stay connected and secure: https://lnkd.in/gJR7yh97 #SecureNetworks #Networking #NetworkServices #NetworkServiceProvider #CyberSecurity

  • File this under: "Things we didn’t have on our 2025 bingo card." NEC Corporation has teamed up with COEDO Brewery to create AI-designed craft beer 🍺🤖, aimed at bringing generations together – via hops and data. NEC's Agentic AI analysed the traits and preferences of people in their 20s through to their 50s, then translated those insights into taste and aroma. The result? Four beers designed to promote intergenerational understanding (and presumably, some lively pub chats 🗣️). It’s weird. It’s wonderful. It’s peak NEC. You can read the full media release here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g6d5rZpX 📍And for those who played along in our April Fools Day poll yesterday – surprise! There’s no fool. While NEC didn’t send a timber satellite into orbit (that was Kyoto University and homebuilder Sumitomo Forestry)... the beers and the romantic bread? 100% real. #AI #CraftBeer #Innovation #OnlyAtNEC #FutureOfBrewing #MadeInJapan #IntergenerationalCheers

  • 📅 Upcoming discussion on Facial Recognition Standards As facial recognition technology expands across retail, clubs, stadiums, and policing, there is an increasing need to discuss where and how it should be used responsibly. On Thursday, 3 April, Jason Zhou from NEC will be sharing his insights on this topic during the upcoming Biometrics Institute Pulse Conversation: "Facial Recognition in Retail, Clubs, Stadiums, and Policing – Should the Same Standards Apply?" This discussion will explore: - The differences between private and public sector use of facial recognition - Policy and regulatory frameworks to ensure responsible implementation - Privacy considerations and addressing consumer concerns - Best practices for data security, compliance, and ethical use With public interest in facial recognition growing, this event will provide valuable insights into how businesses and regulators can align on best practices to ensure trust and transparency. 💡 Regulators and enforcers involved in policy-making are encouraged to attend, with complimentary registration available. Find out more here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gSF3Egua NEC’s real-time facial recognition is transforming how casinos and gaming venues in Australia ensure compliance with problem gambling regulations. By instantly identifying individuals from a self-excluded patron database, specifically those who have opted in to be excluded, casinos and gaming venues can prevent entry for banned guests, helping them meet regulatory standards. Unlike traditional manual checks, the NEC real-time facial recognition technology offers: - Speed & Accuracy: Instant identification with high precision - 24/7 Monitoring: Continuous, around-the-clock compliance - Efficiency: Fast processing, reducing wait times It also helps monitor gambling behaviour and supports responsible gambling practices, ensuring a safer environment for all patrons. At NEC, we're helping casinos embrace this technology to enhance security, compliance, and customer care. For more info, visit: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ge48BkAm

  • 🚨 Windows Server 2012: The Clock’s Ticking - What’s Your Exit Strategy? Support officially ended in October 2023. That means increased risk—security gaps, compliance headaches, and ageing systems that just aren’t built for the future. It’s not all doom and gloom, though. There are four practical paths forward: 👉 In-place upgrades: evolution, not revolution 👉 Lift and shift: the like-for-like approach 👉 Rebuild and modernise: trading up for agility 👉 Serverless or PaaS: redefining efficiency Each comes with pros, cons and considerations. The trick is knowing what’s right for your business—technically, strategically, and financially. Think of it like using a VHS player in a streaming world. Technically, it functions—but not for long, and definitely not well. 🔍 Want to know the smartest way forward? • 🎰 Security shouldn’t be a gamble. While guests try their luck at the tables, casinos balance high foot traffic with strict security requirements – all while delivering a safe and seamless guest experience. That’s why NEC is helping a major Australian casino operator enhance patron safety, elevate customer experiences, and support responsible gambling initiatives with real-time facial recognition technology. This operator needed an advanced biometric solution to prevent unauthorised entry, personalise VIP services, and ensure compliance with self-exclusion policies. 🚧 Customer Challenges - Prevent banned or blacklisted individuals from entering the venue. - Support responsible gambling initiatives through self-exclusion enforcement. - Enhance customer experience by recognising and personalising VIP services. 💡 NEC Solution With NEC’s Facial Recognition Technology, our customer achieved: ✅ Real-time identification, preventing unauthorised entry. ✅ Enhanced VIP experience, improving customer loyalty and service. ✅ Stronger responsible gambling measures, ensuring compliance with self-exclusion policies. 🔗 Learn more about how NEC is securing entertainment venues with advanced biometrics: https://lnkd.in/gDNakKaQ #FacialRecognition #CasinoSecurity #ResponsibleGambling #BiometricSecurity #IdentityVerification

We’re proud to support a Northern Territory-based program helping neurodivergent young people gain skills, confidence, and experience in the ICT industry. Delivered by YouthWorX NT and funded by Google, this initiative provides hands-on training, industry mentoring, and real-world work placements, often leading to permanent roles in the industry. NEC has been involved since the program's early stages – offering guidance, hosting participants, and helping create pathways to employment. We’d like to recognise the work of Michelle Barton and the entire YouthWorx NT team for their commitment to supporting young people across the Territory, and for creating a space where different kinds of thinking are embraced and celebrated. We were honoured to attend a recent graduation event alongside representatives from Government House and the NT Government, including: 🎓 His Honour, Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM 🎓 Matthew Kerle MLA – Northern Territory Legislative Assembly Also a big thank you to our long-standing local partner New Future IT, whose support continues to strengthen the impact of this important work. The outcomes of this program go far beyond skills training. It’s about belonging, opportunity, and creating a future where all young people – regardless of how they think or learn – can thrive. #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #YouthEmployment #ICTCareers #DiversityInTech Damien Charles
