Building a connected network of solar and storage systems that radically changes the way renewable energy is delivered.
About us
The NRN - National Renewable Network is building a connected network of solar and storage systems that radically changes the way energy is delivered. We use the latest renewable energy technology and infrastructure to simultaneously lower the cost of renewable energy for households, businesses, and energy retailers. Lower emissions, lower energy pricing, and a greener future for Australia. As an Energy Infrastructure business, we are challenging our current expensive and outdated electricity supply chain by upgrading homes and businesses to produce, store and use their own renewable energy. Our subscription service offers Energy Retailers the ability to upgrade their consumers to renewable energy to improve remote energy management, profit margins and make a step forward to a cleaner energy grid. Meanwhile consumers can enjoy Solar and Battery at no cost and access to exclusive and more affordable energy tariffs.

He’s been with us a little while now, but Sidharth Kaushik is really kicking some incredible goals at NRN - National Renewable Network – and we reckon it’s time to give him the recognition he deserves. As a Software Developer at NRN, Sidharth is helping shape the future of energy by developing and refining algorithms that power our solar energy systems. From data analytics to simulation modelling, he’s ensuring our tech delivers the performance, efficiency, and reliability we promise our customers. With a Masters by Research under his belt, Sidharth brings deep expertise in advanced computational techniques, software development, and cyber security—combining academic rigour with innovative thinking to support NRN’s mission to accelerate Australia’s shift to renewable energy. And when he’s not coding energy solutions, you’ll find him racing cars at Sydney Motorsport Park. Whether on the track or behind the screen, he’s constantly pushing boundaries—and we’re stoked to have him on the team.

We welcome Rory Armour to NRN - National Renewable Network as our new Product Owner. With a strong background in energy markets and Power Purchase Agreements, Rory brings valuable experience in helping retailers navigate the complexities of renewable energy. At NRN, he will lead the development of our energy tariff marketplace, working closely with retailers to integrate their products and build a strong network of distributed solar and battery assets. Having seen firsthand how even the most advanced trading teams struggle to predict renewable generation, Rory recognised NRN’s virtual power plant model as a practical solution. Outside work, you might find him on a paddleboard playing SUP ball near Manly Pier. We’re looking forward to the impact he will make at NRN.

At the Energy Storage Summit Australia this week, NRN - National Renewable Network's Director of Energy Products, Jess Padman, joined industry leaders to discuss the role of distribution networks and batteries in Australia’s renewable future. Jess made it clear: Behind-the-meter batteries already provide essential system support, benefiting everyone – and this value needs to be recognised. Engagement is key – DNSPs must work with retailers to optimise these assets rather than resist the shift. Retailers are best placed to manage customer assets and communications—if distributors get closer to customers, it only increases complexity. We need transparency and open markets for network support services in the NEM, not more ARENA funding for DNSP-owned batteries, which tilts the playing field. This conversation is critical because small-scale batteries are expected to support up to 50% of Australia’s renewable storage. The panel, moderated by Matt Baumgurtel (Hamilton Locke), also featured insights from: Joel Prata (ACEnergy) Anne Pearson (Essential Energy) Joris Eerkens (Squirrel Energy Pty Ltd) The industry is at a crossroads. Will we embrace an open, transparent, competitive market – or let monopolies dictate the future?

Our CEO, Alan Hunter, pitched at last night’s GITEX GLOBAL Largest Tech & Startup Show in the World event in Sydney. While we were finalists, we sadly didn’t win; connecting with top startups, investors, and innovators made it an incredible night. Congratulations to Cydalics on winning! I also want to thank GITEX GLOBAL, Expand North Star, and all the judges and speakers for an inspiring event. I'm excited to see more Aussie startups on the global stage!
