I attended the "How to Start an AI Startup" event by MLAI and Heidi Health on Wednesday. The panel Q&A format featuring Australian AI pioneers was fantastic! Hearing founder stories from YU Liu (Heidi Health), Dr Sam Donegan (Support Sorted), Julian Featherston (HAL Systems), and Andrew Nash (University of Melbourne Commercialisation) provided real insights into what it takes to succeed in the AI space in 2025. I really enjoyed this event. Looking forward to more events from MLIA and Heidi Health in the future! #MLAI #HeidiHealth #AIStartups #AustralianTech #FounderStories #AIInnovation #StartupStrategy #MelbourneTech

A little late for a MedHack post (or my first LinkedIn post). But better late than never. Last month, I had the opportunity to lead and host MedHack: AI Hospital along with Dr Sam Donegan and our amazing teams at MYMI (Monash Young MedTech Innovators) and MLAI. AI has rapidly evolved over the past few years, seamlessly integrating into various aspects of our studies, work, and daily lives. With this in mind, the MYMI and MLAI teams set out to explore how AI could contribute to the future of healthcare. Since last July, we have been planning MedHack, which culminated in an exciting hackathon weekend where 250 participants from a wide range of backgrounds, including engineering, data science, and medicine, came together across 72 teams. Over a week and a half, they worked to develop AI models aimed at solving real healthcare challenges using deidentified patient data. Following this, we hosted the MedHack Pitch Night, where the top eight teams presented their AI models and demos to our esteemed judging panel, showcasing the transformative potential of AI in healthcare. Finally, a huge thank you to our sponsors and organisers. This event would not have been possible without your generous support. I am also incredibly grateful to everyone who participated, including the judges, mentors, and every competitor. And of course, a massive congratulations to our winners for their outstanding work. Just pitched our startup for the first time 🎤 A month ago, I couldn’t code a thing. But yet here I am now working on my third hackathon, volunteering with MLAI, and building a startup together with Jasmine Raj and Nathan Nguyen. Yesterday, we got the chance to pitch our startup to 100+ people at an MLAI event 🤯. Not gonna lie, I was so nervous I barely even remember what the panelists talked about. The whole time I was just rehearsing nonstop in my head, waiting for my turn to get up and speak. But when the moment finally came, it actually went better than I expected. Tbh, I still can’t believe we pulled it off. Huge thanks to Dr Sam Donegan and Louka Ewington-Pitsos for giving us such a massive opportunity, who knows what I'd do without them. Big shoutout to MLAI for hosting an incredible panel event and to YU Liu, Dr Sam Donegan, Julian Featherston, Andrew J. Nash, and Safiollah Heidari for sharing their knowledge 🧠. Massive props to Nathan Nguyen, Gan Yu Pin, and Scott Fuhrmeister for helping take the pics 📸, they made us look way cooler than we felt 😎. To everyone who showed up, hope you enjoyed the event! 🙌 If you’re keen to get involved with MLAI, we’re always open to new volunteers! Just hit me up or reach out to them directly :) (More on what we’re building coming soon… 👀)

It was a blast to go full circle and guest judge #MedHack 10 years after I was a participant! What a way to fill my cup - innovative work presented by incredibly smart and enthusiastic young entrepreneurs tackling major problems facing our health system with AI. Australian med tech is in great hands and has a bright future. The event organisers MYMI (Monash Young MedTech Innovators) and Monash Institute of Medical Engineering have done a phenomenal job carrying forward the MedHack legacy and I'm excited to see where the teams take their ideas from here.
