Sold and settled! 🏠 Metro is now the Rail Infrastructure Manager (RIM) of Arden, Parkville and Anzac stations – which essentially means we now have the 🔑 to these three new stations that will soon be joining our network. Being the accredited RIM marks the start of station operations, and our first stations team members moving in to begin training and familiarising ahead of the Metro Tunnel opening to passengers later this year. Thank you to our project partners for getting us to this milestone and we can’t wait for the Metro Tunnel to transform the way We Move Melbourne.

About us
Since November 2009 Metro Trains Melbourne has been the operator of Melbourne’s growing suburban railway. Currently running more than 15,000 services a week across 16 lines, Metro is committed to creating one of the best engineered railways in the world. Melbourne is Australia’s fastest growing city – a city which is becoming increasingly reliant on public transport networks. Since 2009, Metro’s momentum to grow and change the network has remained steadfast, understanding it is no longer a traditional suburban railway. Adopting global best-practice across all facets of the business provides the foundation for the transformation to a high capacity and high frequency metro-style railway designed for the growing city of Melbourne. With more than 7000 team members across Victoria, we provide an environment that is rooted in honesty and integrity. Metro's team members are committed to serving our communities with the best possible services.

How can we leverage the Melbourne railway network to support sustainable energy? Roller coaster trains, synthetic trees, goats grazing in station grasslands, electricity generating exercise bikes on platforms, and battery loaded carriages – the ideas were flowing at the joint Energy & Sustainability Workshop facilitated by Metro and Monash Energy Institute . Metro has been working with energy distributors and retailers to develop pathways towards net zero. The workshop participants discussed ideas to enhance our railway energy resilience and improve sustainability. The ideas shared focused on behind the meter, front of meter solutions, low carbon stations, low energy passenger journeys, and the business models required to deliver these fantastic ideas. Thank you to Monash Energy Institute CitiPower and Powercor Jemena SEC Victoria AusNet Department of Transport and Planning Darren Quinlivan for an engaging and collaborative discussion looking at solutions to the energy transition problem.

🚆🎉 Big news for 2025, the first level crossing removal of the year is now complete, marking a huge milestone in our journey to a safer, smoother travel experience. 🚧 With the removal of the level crossing at Station Street, Beaconsfield, we're not only boosting safety for everyone but also easing congestion in the area, making everyday commutes faster and more reliable. This is a key step toward making the Pakenham Line level crossing-free later this year! 🙌 With just two sets of boom gates left, Melbourne's busiest rail line is closer than ever to being completely free of level crossings. #LevelCrossingRemoval #PakenhamLine #SafetyFirst #2025Milestones

Shoutout to Aiden, Pat and Rango, teenage train enthusiasts who recently achieved the impressive feat of visiting every Metro station in 24 hours. They reached out to thank Metro teams for a day that ran like clockwork. Their epic journey took just over 19 hours, starting 4.04am at Mernda Station and finishing at Hurstbridge at 11.50pm. Highlights of their meticulously planned mission included catching a musical performance at Flinders Street Station and travelling the historic Belgrave line in its entirety. * journey taken on 24 January, 2025
