We are proud to share we have achieved the lowest gender pay gap for the second consecutive year at -0.6 percent. We believe the pay gap must be part of a larger focus on equity within a practice and cannot be tackled in isolation. “GroupGSA prioritises regular reporting and continuous improvement to uphold its strong stance on pay equity,” Director of People, Culture and Practice Nancy Piazzolla says. “This data-driven approach allows us to proactively identify and address any discrepancies, setting a benchmark for the industry.” This article highlights the positive news that the second round of gender pay gap data demonstrates significant improvements across several studios. Plus this year, several architecture firms have released statements based on the release of the data outlining the steps they are taking to improve their median gender pay gaps. • Great news to end the week...155 Clarence Street Lobby – we’re excited to announce it's on the shortlist for Workplace Design in The Australian Interior Design Awards 2025! We revitalised an underutilised lobby within a boutique heritage commercial tower by delivering a ‘hotel-like’ experience centred on tenant proposition, wellness and community. The revitalised lobby enhances tenant engagement, functionality, and community through insightful planning, a rich, layered aesthetic and an homage to the building heritage. Congratulations to our client AXA Investment Managers and partners HUNTER MASON, Sandstone Project Management, Evolved Engineering, E-LAB Consulting and MBMPL Pty Ltd And our project team Liam Higginbotham, Jessica Margiotta, Amanda Ly. • Congratulations to our client Costco Wholesale and partners including Mainbrace Constructions Pty Ltd on the opening of Costco Wholesale Ardeer, VIC. Our team on Costco projects for 10 years has been led by Roberto Gutierrez, Associate Director, as key consultant and designer from feasibility to construction. Thanks for the shoutout, Mainbrace Constructions Pty Ltd and another collaborative success. #warehousedesign #retailarchitecture

Costco Wholesale Ardeer is officially open and ready to serve! We’ve now delivered 35 Costco projects across the country — and this one was a standout milestone for our Victoria team for a couple of reasons: ⛽️ It features the largest fuel station in Melbourne's West—a complex, large-scale project that required meticulous planning and execution. 👷🏽♀️Led by Umran Ustalar, one of our exceptional female leaders in Victoria, who inspired the team to deliver excellence. A huge shoutout to everyone who contributed to bringing this vision to life. In particular, Robert Gutierrez from GroupGSA who has partnered with us on all our Costco warehouse builds. This kind of success is what great collaboration looks like! #mainbraceconstructions #weareretailspecialists #australiasleadingretailbuilder #costcowholesale #retail #construction

Many hands make light work to help hungry school kids. Our Sydney team got together last week to support Eat Up Australia - a not-for-profit that helps feed hungry kids at school lunch times. Eat Up came to us, set up on-site and guided us to make 1,000+ sandwiches in just 60 minutes. We hit our 1,000 sandwich target and had some fun together in the process. "The Eat Up event was a great way for the team to engage in a fun, team building exercise while making a meaningful contribution to the community for an excellent cause," said Nancy Piazzolla, Director - People, Culture & Practice. About Childhood Hunger > 25% of students at the schools they support need an Eat Up lunch. > 77% of schools report a rise in students needing free meals.* Sources: *Eat Up Evaluation Report, 2024 About Eat Up Australia Eat Up engages with thousands of volunteers to prepare 30,000+ cheese sandwiches each week. This provides a valuable opportunity for community organisations, regional groups, workplaces, school students and individuals to contribute in a direct and meaningful way to end hunger in schools. This simple and powerful project helps to ensure some of the most vulnerable children in our community are having their basic nutritional needs met. From grassroots beginnings, Eat Up is now Australia's only organisation providing free lunches for students on a national scale thanks to it’s founder, Lyndon Galea . To date, they’ve provided over 4 million free lunches to students throughout Australia. Find out more about Eat Up | https://lnkd.in/gd9a_X9u #community #teambuilding #volunteering #workplaceculture

  • Designing and building resilient, green solutions for the transportation sector

Building for Sustainable Travel 🚗   Introducing the Edmondson Park North Commuter Car Park, a cutting-edge facility completed in 2024 by A W Edwards in Sydney.    Strategically located to promote sustainable travel, this 900-space car park integrates innovative design and eco-friendly technologies, setting a new standard for transportation infrastructure. The facility includes a range of advanced features, such as solar panel-equipped metal decks, electric vehicle charging stations, and AI-powered energy monitoring systems. To reduce carbon emissions during construction, the A W Edwards team incorporated hydrogen generators and portable battery systems that replaced traditional diesel generators.   Achieving a Platinum rating under the Sustainability Design Guidelines v4.0, the highest rating awarded by the government agency, this project represents a significant step in building resilient, green solutions for the transportation sector.   👇 Learn more about how this project is supporting the transition to more sustainable modes of transport. • Congratulations to our client Billbergia Group for the SSDA approval of the 48-storey mixed-use tower at 9-13 Blaxland Road, Rhodes. Billbergia’s 48-storey Rhodes high-rise will include 313 apartments delivering a mix of studio to five-bedroom apartments, of which 15 per cent, will be dedicated to affordable housing. The $263-million project from Billbergia Group, is adapting to new policies requiring at least 10% affordable housing for projects over $75 million in Greater Sydney. We won a design competition for this tower in March 2023 and since then Urbis have worked closely with Government Architect NSW to transition the competition-winning scheme and Regional DA to an infill affordable housing SSDA. The project includes 12 levels of parking for 257 cars. Of its 32,093sq m gross floor area: - 30,753sq m will be residential, and - 1339sq m non-residential. The design takes inspiration from the ridges, valleys, bays and peninsulas that define Sydney’s geography. Designed collaboratively with Singapore-based landscape architecture practice Salad Dressing, it is conceived as a biodiversity connector that ‘rewilds the sky’ with generous vertical greening and sky gardens. The tower features an activated ground plane that provides a new green connection between Blaxland Road, Rhodes Station, Churchill Tucker Reserve, McIlwaine Park and Brays Bay. Vertical wintergardens are a key focal point to the building, which appear to creep up from the surrounding parkland to envelope the tower and culminate in an intimate rooftop garden. The gardens are not only an aesthetic feature, they provide acoustic and urban heat mitigation, and buffering of high winds. Thanks to its relatively unencumbered site, most apartments offer unobstructed panoramic views to the south and north-east, looking over parklands and the Parramatta River. “Our design philosophy ensures that the most spectacular views and exceptional communal areas are accessible to all, without segregation or preference for upper floors. We're thrilled and proud to have designed a mixed tenure building that embodies such inclusivity and sets a benchmark for equity in urban development,” Lisa-Maree Carrigan, Director, GroupGSA. We’re proud to have partnered with Urbis to help deliver this result for Billbergia.
