What's the biggest challenge students face when applying to clerkships? (Hint: it's not partner interviews or other students gatekeeping resources.) It's the painfully long feedback cycle. Hear me out 👇 Clerkship applications are highly streamlined and synchronised across firms. Applications are due at the same time, interview offers are made simultaneously, and hiring decisions are announced in unison. This means that if there’s an issue with your application - whether it's your resume, cover letter, or interview responses - you won’t know until AFTER you’ve repeated it across multiple firms. The result? Highly qualified candidates facing mass rejections simply because they never had the chance to refine their approach before it was too late. At GradIQ we're looking to break this cycle. Over the next month, GradIQ will be presenting at universities around Sydney to assist prospective law clerks with their application preparation (more on this soon). Earlier this week, GradIQ held its inaugural Mental Arithmetic Challenge at the University of Sydney, in partnership with several Engineering societies. Over three days, more than 80 students competed in GradIQ’s 4-minute mental arithmetic quiz, with the top student from each society advancing to the final. Society Finalists: Sydney University Mechatronics Organisation (SUMO): Eric Windsoc (Sydney University Aeronautical Society): Elijah MUGS: Mechanical Undergraduates Society: Erik USYD SparkSoc: Sophie Sydney University Engineering Undergraduates Association (SUEUA): Matthew Additionally, three wildcard entries earned their place in a separate final: Adrian, Akito, and Caleb. Congratulations to Eric, who won the society final with a score of 36/40, and to Adrian, who took first place in the wildcard final with a perfect score of 40/40 🔥. Thanks to everyone who participated and to societies for their support. We look forward to bringing more opportunities like this to students in the near future!
