The North Queensland Hydrogen Grand Prix meet-up this week was a great success! The students from St Patrick's College Townsville did an amazing job completing their car builds and testing the machines on the track. We are incredibly impressed by the student’s tenacity in tackling new challenges, the teamwork in finding solutions and enthusiasm for the race. Mentored by engineers from our race partners, Siemens Energy, this is STEM education in action. We’re thrilled to be part of the joy and discovery the St Pats students are experiencing and proud to be supporting our future female scientist and engineers. The girls are looking very strong for the North Queensland finals in May. Go St Pats! Thank you to CQUniversity for hosting the meet up and to H2 Grand Prix and Horizon Educational for providing this excellent opportunity for students. . . . . #H2GP #GreenHydrogen #Renewableenergy #GirlsInSTEM #STEMEducation #HydrogenRacing #FutureInnovators #daretoimagine

Together with Siemens Energy we are excited to sponsor the St Patrick College Townsville H2 Grand Prix Race teams! In our first workshop, it was fantastic to collaborate with the students and put the principles of STEM and the power of green hydrogen into action. “The initial experience working with the hydrogen cars has been both enlightening and challenging for the students. In addition to gaining important hands-on experience in STEM disciplines, the students have also faced a steep learning curve in using tools and developing practical building skills. It’s a welcome bonus we hadn’t anticipated!” — CJ Lancashire, Lead Teacher for the Hydrogen Grand Prix Program. . . . #H2GP #GreenHydrogen #Renewableenergy #GirlsInSTEM #STEMEducation #HydrogenRacing #FutureInnovators CQUniversity Horizon Educational

"A major renewable energy deal inked by Rio Tinto will underpin $2 billion of investment in solar farms and batteries in central Queensland and is being hailed as a milestone towards the eventual supply of round-the-clock solar power" Angela Macdonald-Smith, AFR Senior Resources Writer. The Australian Financial Review article delves deeper into the many significant wins from the 20-year service agreement with Rio Tinto. "They’ve chosen our solution on commercial grounds, they have chosen it on reliability grounds, and it all has the benefit of being a clean source of electricity too, where fossil fuels were an alternative that they didn’t take up,” Andrew Stiel, Edify's Head of Energy markets and Offtake. https://lnkd.in/gebJWXMP

We are proud to announce Edify has signed a landmark 20 year solar and battery agreement with Rio Tinto. Edify and Rio Tinto have signed two new solar and battery hybrid services agreements (HSAs) to increase the supply of reliable, competitively priced electricity to Rio Tinto’s Gladstone aluminium operations in Queensland. Edify is excited to be working with Rio Tinto, providing clean, reliable, firm and cost-effective electricity to one of Australia’s critical industries. The Smoky Creek & Guthrie’s Gap Solar Power Stations represent the culmination of everything that Edify stands for as a business. Bringing the best and latest in solar, battery and inverter technology; our ability to structure offtake arrangements with Australia’s largest and most important electricity consumers; and our end-to-end capability in development, structuring, financing, delivering and operating grid-smart, dispatchable renewable electricity generation to meet the needs of Australia’s power system. This collaboration with Rio Tinto underscores our commitment to bringing innovative renewable electricity solutions to market that support the sustainable future of Australia's industrial sector. The HSAs mark a huge vote of confidence from Rio Tino – energy intensive industries can say yes to renewables and rely on clean, reliable and cost-effective power. Solar plus battery hybrids will form a key part of the backbone of the energy system, deploying generation and storage at scale. We are pleased to advance Rio Tinto's ambitious decarbonisation goals and to play a role in the transition to a low-carbon economy. Today marks an exciting milestone for Koorangie Energy Storage System, successfully exporting to the grid for the first time, as we commence hold point testing. A fitting Valentines gift to the energy transition as we move closer to a sustainable and reliable energy future for Australia. Powering 350,000 homes for 2 hours, providing essential grid stability to the region, liberating more cheap renewable energy for the community and advancing Australia’s 100% renewable future. (Beats roses any day of the week) At Edify Energy, we love what we do. We are passionate about bringing clever technology to market, finding cutting edge solutions to complex problems and building long term relationships with our partners, with a single goal in mind. Ausnet's Terminal Station plays a crucial role in facilitating the energisation of the new Koorangie Energy Storage System. This, in turn, will liberate more renewable energy in the region and provide the community with cheap, clean power. An important milestone indeed! Congratulations to AusNet. . . . . #greenenergy #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #renewables #edifyenergy #energytransition
⚡🔋 New Year, new connections! AusNet has successfully energised the 220kV Koorangie Terminal Station on a traditional land of the Barapa Barapa, Wamba Wamba and Yorta Yorta people, approximately 17km out of Kerang. This station will facilitate to connect Koorangie Energy Storage System (KESS) to the Victorian Transmission Network. Design and developed by Edify Energy, KESS is a new 185MW/ 370MWh lithium-ion battery, 100% owned by Sosteneo Infrastructure Partners. KESS secured a System Support Agreement with Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) to provide 125MW of system strength services to improve the network stability in the region. This shared network asset will not only increase the renewable hosting capacity of the Murray River REZ by up to 300 megawatts and power 350,000 homes for 2 hours but will also facilitate more #renewable connections in future. The #battery is supported by a 15-year term offtake agreement with Shell Energy Australia for the full 185MW / 370MWh.
