A family foundation supporting people and places to thrive.
About us
Dusseldorp Forum is a family foundation committed to a just and equitable Australia – one that is caring, ethical, and honours our First Peoples. We believe in the power of community-led change and work alongside partners to support initiatives that create lasting, systemic impact. Our approach is rooted in respect for First Nations self-determination, building authentic relationships, and fostering cross-sector collaboration. We provide long-term funding, facilitate knowledge-sharing, and advocate for solutions that reimagine governance, shift narratives, and strengthen communities. Through these collaborations, we seek to amplify voices, influence policy, and co-create systems that enable people and places to thrive. By learning alongside our partners and working with initiatives that create positive social and environmental change, we aim to help shape an Australia where all children, families, and communities can flourish. Have a window of downtime today? Tune into this 6 minute interview with Jon King and Luke Craven about place-based solutions, and the work of PLACE. Link below.
A new collaboration between the Australian Government and leading philanthropic foundations Paul Ramsay Foundation, Minderoo Foundation, Dusseldorp Forum, The Ian Potter Foundation and The Bryan Foundation are supporting the establishment of a new national centre for place-based work in local communities - Partnerships for Local Action and Community Empowerment (PLACE). Luke Craven is the CEO of PLACE and keynote speaker at the upcoming Alcohol and Drug Foundation Prevention in Place Conference. The event showcases place-based approaches reducing disadvantage and improving wellbeing across Australia. I spoke with Luke for The Wire - thewire.org.au about place-based solutions in Australia and how PLACE will support communities to address complex and entrenched challenges in society.

What started in 2015 as a single teacher under a tarpaulin in Kabulwarnamyo has, with the support of Karrkad Kanjdji Trust, flourished into independent schools that weave together traditional Indigenous knowledge and the Australian curriculum—creating a rich, holistic education. Today, Nawarddeken Academy schools are thriving across all three ranger base communities in the Warddeken IPA, giving children the opportunity to stay, learn, and strengthen culture on their homelands. Because when young people can access education where they belong, they can shape the future on their own terms. ✨ This powerful video tells their story. 🔗 https://bit.ly/43yhiMa We proudly support Nawarddeken Academy, a community-led, bi-cultural school that ensures children in remote West Arnhem Land can learn and grow on Country. *** We're celebrating young voices and youth-focused initiatives this Youth Week (9-17 April) here at Dusseldorp Forum. "Dear Young Person. You are smart, you are strong. Your opinions and experiences are valid and should be heard. You are our future." Mekayla from Moree crafted this powerful story, using 'The Letter to a Problem' technique in one of our Narrative Practice workshops last year.. The letter doesn’t scold or shame; instead, it invites the young person to see their actions from a new perspective. This simple yet profound practice exemplifies the essence of narrative practice – supporting people to rewrite their stories in ways that make them stronger. Strong communities need strong connections! 🏡✨ Investing in the glue – the people, infrastructure, and systems that bind services together –is crucial for better community outcomes. Our Place exemplifies this by transforming schools into integrated community hubs, bringing together education, health, and family services to support children and families. 🔗 Read more about how integration works in action: https://lnkd.in/gcrfQwtY #CommunityImpct #IntegratedServices #OurPlace Social Ventures Australia @Ourplace

🌟 A huge congratulations to Australian Impact Investments and Koda Capital, the winners of the inaugural Endowments for Impact Challenge! 🌟 At the Impact Investment Summit in Sydney last week, six exceptional finalists – Argus Advisory, Ethinvest, Evans & Partners, and LGT Crestone Wealth Management Limited – pitched their bold and thoughtful approaches to impact-aligned investing. A special shout-out to Evans & Partners, winners of the People’s Choice Award! Every finalist demonstrated a deep understanding of what it takes to engage meaningfully with trusts and foundations: building relationships, assessing impact outcomes in a nuanced way and going far beyond just mapping to the SDGs. Led by Impact Investing Australia, this Challenge is a bold step forward for Australia’s philanthropic sector, and with finalists and winners like these, the future feels bright. We are proud to stand alongside Besen Family Foundation, Inner North Community Foundation, Northern Rivers Community Foundation, Oranges & Sardines Foundation, and Reichstein Foundation in supporting this sector-shaping initiative.
