Here at CBCity, we're proudly celebrating International Women’s Day in 2025 by recognising the incredible individuals within our organisation who are driving change and shaping a more inclusive future. To mark the occasion, we sent 20 of our amazing team members to the annual Local Government NSW IWD lunch today, where they had the opportunity to connect, learn and be inspired. These standout team members have been recognised for their leadership and dedication to creating positive change. They will now bring back valuable insights to lead tailored events across various Council departments, sparking important conversations about what inclusion looks like in our everyday roles, teams and decisions. Happy International Women's Day! 💜

Booming BYRC! Drop-in Centre recognised 👏 Belmore Youth Resource Centre (BYRC) is booming after taking out a top honour at the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue Boomtown! 2024 Project of the Year Awards. The Council drop-in Centre was recognised for its 30-year anniversary with the Chairman’s Prize at last week's Gala Dinner at Accor Stadium. In a heartfelt speech, Mayor El-Hayek said the award means so much to so many people. “Not only the dedicated staff that put in hours of hard work and planning and putting in place programs, but the thousands of people that have dropped into the Centre,” Mayor El-Hayek said. BYRC opened on 27 August 1994 and has welcomed more than 10,000 locals through its doors. To find out more information about the Centre, head to https://cb.city/BYRC 📸 Image of Belmore Youth Resource Centre in the late 90's.

Congratulations to Councillor Linda Downey, who was honoured with the ‘Elected Representative’ award at the Minister’s Awards for Women in Local Government yesterday. 👏 Clr Downey was elected to the former Bankstown City Council in 2008, where she was the first woman elected to represent the South Ward (which is now the Revesby Ward). While this is Clr Downey's final term representing the people of Canterbury-Bankstown, she said she will still play an active role in the community. "I will continue to illustrate to young girls that there’s really rewarding career paths in Local Government."
