Great to have Oliver Evans from our London office, visiting sunny Sydney this week. Oli’s the go-to for Building Performance Verification, IEQ and Air Tightness Testing in the UK and has come to catch up with the team to share the latest from Europe, and collaborate on new ideas. At CETEC, we’re all about making big things happen through teamwork—whether it’s across a desk or across continents. Oli’s visit is another reminder of the importance of the strength in our global connections.

Navigating Dangerous Goods Safety in Australia: A Critical Perspective In Australia. The management of dangerous goods is a cornerstone of workplace safety, environmental protection, and public health. Defined as substances or materials with properties such as flammability, toxicity and corrosiveness, dangerous goods span a wide range of products, from flammable gases and liquids, to combustible liquids, including toxic and corrosive chemicals. For industries like tertiary research laboratories, hospitals, and manufacturing plants, ensuring compliance with Australian standards isn’t just about ticking regulatory boxes; it’s about mitigating real risks that could have catastrophic consequences. Drawing from decades of expertise, companies like CETEC provide critical guidance in this space, bridging the gap between regulatory frameworks and practical implementation.

  • Dangerous Goods in Australian Hospitals– Improving Occupant Safety Consulting with hospitals, IVF centers and day surgeries across Australia we’re helping to make healthcare safer. While Medical gases, like oxygen and nitrous oxide, are essential in healthcare, they come with significant risks if improperly stored or used. These gases are often kept onsite and pose a risk to building structures and human health.   Oxygen and Nitrous Oxide, which are both classified as oxidizing gases, can dramatically increase fire risk. Additionally, Nitrous Oxide (aka laughing gas) has strict exposure limits under Workplace Exposure Standards, and prolonged exposure could harm health. Due to these inherent risks, compliant storage practices are critical.   We developed a framework for assessing your existing or proposed gas cylinder stores, and provide improved risk mitigation solutions based on AS 4332 requirements, including AS 2896 and AS/NZS 60079.29.2.
