TIMEZYX at EWSHM 2024 in Potsdam, Germany: 11th European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring. https://lnkd.in/gVriGwgp Our CEO, Dr. Kamyab Zandi, Ph.D., Docent, will be presenting at the 11th European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring, EWSHM 2024, a world-class event that showcases the latest advances and innovations in structural health monitoring. The conference will take place on 10-13 June, 2024, at Potsdam, Germany. Presentation Highlights: In his talk “Smart Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and Enhanced Structural Modelling” Dr. Kamyab Zandi will detail the importance of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and advanced structural modelling in ensuring the integrity and serviceability of bridges. At the heart of this research lies the concept of a Structural Digital Twin, a living structural simulation that brings SHM data and structural models together to reflect the actual state of a structure. The outcomes of this research lay a solid ground for the future development of structural digital twins for buildings and infrastructure. These outcomes also offer essential recommendations aimed at enhancing the longevity and safety of bridges, thereby contributing to the continuous evolution of resilient transport infrastructure. #digitaltwins #structuraldigitaltwins #SHM #StructuralHealthMonitoring #EWSHM

Getting all on board – Can Multiple-Helix deliver the answer? SIRR’s slogan is “All onboard in rural societies for a fair future !”. Therefore, all local hubs in SIRR work towards engaging diverse stakeholders and sectors into meaningful projects and initiatives that contribute to transform our societies towards sustainability. But this is often challenging, as having a higher diversity in the innovation ecosystem also brings a higher effort in communicating and coordinating for hubs. Within the SIRR-project, knowledge creation and transfer happen hand in hand between knowledge partners and local hubs. A first foundational element of what Multiple-Helix could be in theory and practice, was recently submitted for peer review in a scientific journal. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog article explaining the background and application of a Multiple-Helix Approach in local and regional sustainable development! 🌟 #HorizonEurope project Hephaestuscraft.eu coordinator Marta Gasparin Copenhagen Business School, together with Dr Martin Quinn and Professor William Green (University of Birmingham) were keynote speakers at #IPDMC (Innovation and product development conference) conference. The IPDMC 2024 took place in Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland on June 5-7, 2024. 📢 This time the organisers and participants of the conference explored how we can leverage a plurality of perspectives for impactful innovation. This theme is relevant: the changes taking place in our society challenge us to develop responses incorporating multiple points of view so as to ensure that the innovations deployed provide timely and impactful solutions. Main discussed topics during the keynote speech: ☑ Craft and slow innovation as an alternative mode of production and consumption in the Anthropocene; ☑ Public value in the Anthropocene, reflecting on the implications for public policies in ecosystems; ☑ Innovative approaches to lifelong learning reflecting on challenges of the Anthropocene, business model innovation and value creation. Last week, I had the chance to present the first stage of my research at #ATRF2024 Conference and PhD Symposium, held at Monash University, Melbourne. One of the key areas discussed at this conference was the integration of transport and land use planning, bringing together researchers, practitioners, and government agencies. It seems that our research is becoming more relevant to this context. The title of my presentation was “Exploring the association between housing type and travel behaviour: A focus on public transport use in Melbourne”. Our finding showed that: • Access to public transport significantly influences public transport use. • Apartment residents tend to use public transport more than residents in separate housing, even after controlling for access to public transport. However, the share of public transport use varies by trip purpose. • Work-related and education trips accounted for the greatest share of public transport use across all housing types – likely due to their regularity and predictability. • Results suggest that other factors (e.g. socio-demographic, attitudes, preferences) influence public transport use among apartment residents in Melbourne. • The next stages of our research explore the determinants of public transport use among apartment residents and how these factors shape their decisions regarding public transport use. Special thanks to my supervisors - Chris De Gruyter, Afshin Jafari, and Sarah Foster - for their commitment to my PhD project and contributions to this presentation (and paper!), and #ATRF2024 organisers for their efforts in making the conference happen.
