About us

The Alfred Research Alliance is a vibrant community dedicated to excellence in research and education. Located in the heart of Melbourne, we think in new and innovative ways and share a commitment to furthering knowledge and to translating our research into new and improved diagnoses, treatments and disease-prevention strategies that will have a real and positive impact in the lives of real people, every day. The Alliance includes Alfred Health, the Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute, Burnet Institute, Monash University, Deakin University and La Trobe University and is co-located with the Alfred, one of Australia's busiest hospitals, keeping us hospital centred, people focused and outcome driven. With more than 8000 health professionals, researchers, students and support staff on site, the Alliance is home to some of the world's leading experts in almost every field of biomedical, translational, clinical and public health research, and in education and healthcare. Together, we form an exciting, multi-layered collaborative community where the latest advances in medical research are rapidly translated into the best possible clinical care and health outcomes for the community - locally, nationally and internationally.
