Das Internationale Zentrum für Migrationspolitik-Entwicklung (ICMPD) ist eine internationale Organisation mit 21 Mitgliedsstaaten und Aktivitäten in über 90 Ländern. Durch seinen Beitrag zur Entwicklung verbesserter und sicherer Migrationspolitiken und -programme verfolgt ICMPD einen ganzheitlichen Ansatz in der Migrationsarbeit: Es werden strukturell politische Grundlagen und Forschung, Zusammenarbeit, Gemeinschaftsinitiativen und die Entwicklung von Kapazitäten miteinander verknüpft. #ICMPDAroundTheGlobe 🤝 ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger participated in the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, with this year's theme, “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World.” 🤝 ICMPD Director General Michael Spindelegger participated in a high-level panel discussion on Forced Displacement and International Responsibility, moderated by Enda Brady from TRT World. 🤝 The panel featured key voices on migration policy, including Touhid Hossain, Advisor to the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, and Prof. Dr. Murat Yeşiltaş, Director of Foreign Policy Research at SETA Foundation. During the discussion, ICMPD Director General addressed the evolving nature of cross-border crimes, highlighting that: 💬 "Criminal networks behind human trafficking are no longer conventional mafias, but many different tiny enterprises. This makes traditional enforcement methods less effective. We need comprehensive strategies that combine law enforcement with local engagement." #InFocus 🌍 In the framework of the 2nd Ministerial Conference of the Khartoum Process, ministers and high-level representatives from 40 countries, along with the African Union, the European Union, and international organisations, agreed to implement the Cairo Action Plan. 🤝 Hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the event marked the formal turnover of the Khartoum Process Chairmanship to the French Republic, and the Process’s 10th anniversary. 🤝 The Cairo Action Plan includes addressing irregular migration, promoting skills mobility and pathways for regular migration, protecting refugees and displaced persons, fighting against migrant smuggling and human trafficking, and safe, timely, dignified and effective return. #InFocus 🌍 On 27-28 March, the 13th Ministerial Meeting of the Brdo Process and the conference of the Network of Anti-Trafficking Coordinators in South-Eastern Europe (NATC-SEE) took place in Kranj, Slovenia. Hosted by the Slovenian Ministry of the Interior, European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, and Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos formally opened the Meeting. 🤝 The Brdo Process endorsed the NATC-SEE Strategy 2025-2029, reflecting the changing nature of human trafficking in the region and the complexities introduced by new technologies, migration patterns, and socio-economic factors. 🤝 Delegates issued a Joint Declaration calling for enhanced security and regional cooperation, including the need for law enforcement authorities’ continuous and rapid adaptation to perceived changes in the criminal environment and contemporary security challenges. Featured Publication of the Month 🎯 The INTAKE Study analysed the labour market participation of displaced women fleeing Ukraine in their host countries in Austria, Germany, and Poland; with the aim to improve policies and measures for them. The authors adopted a gender-specific approach to analyse sustainable labour market participation. Results of the INTAKE study recommend: 📌 Streamlined recognition of qualifications; 📌 Smooth transition to longer-term residence that accommodates the specificity of the situation of displaced women; 📌 Improving language learning through a combination of 'language first' and 'work first' approaches, according to the Institute for Employment Research of the German Federal Employment Agency, 2024. 📌 Collecting data about the qualifications of displaced persons.
