Dear friends, customers, partners and network, the #ColiMinder team is taking a Christmas break this year, and starting today until January 6th 2025 including, we are off duty. How are you managing your #boilorders? Klagenfurt, one of the biggest cities in Austria, had found an #enterococci contamination in their #drinkingwater network - just by coincidence during their regular testing regime relying on standard culture-based lab method taking 24+ hours to get a result. They issued a boil order and started scanning the entire network to identify source and origin of contamination and to manage additional disinfection requirements. They started narrowing down the area of contamination using the standard lab method only. With the long waiting time to result of this method, they estimated 6+ weeks to be able to lift the boil order. After several days, the ColiMinder came in: with its rapid measurements, they have been able to speed up the testing regime immensly. They took around 30 samples per day, measured it in 15 minutes and were thus able to identify location and source of contamination around 30 times faster than with only relying on the standard method. After 4 weeks instead of 6, they were able to lift the boil order and citizens were very happy. Now, they are using a #ColiMinder Mobile for continuos monitoring of their network, reservoirs and groundwater wells - to get an early indication in case a contamination is building up.
