We are giving away a shopping spree - trolley dash style - worth R50 000! This is the first official Woolies Trolley Dash and the after-movie is bound to be exciting. Well done to the social team for reaching this goal, we look forward to celebrating 2 000 000 followers soon 😉

  • Have you seen our Easter hunt bags? Perfect for Easter egg hunt adventures, these adorable bags are made by Township Fleva - an organisation working to develop unemployed youth through training, education and healthcare. That's the difference 💚

Happy Monday morning. Another week ahead full of challenges and opportunities to explore. I received this picture from Nick Henry last week. This picture is meaningful for Rhiza Ventures and Township Fleva for a few reasons. Firstly I believe we have found our product model going forward 😄, secondly the Easter Huntbag you see below from Woolworths (https://lnkd.in/dJ2bYbrd) was manufactured by Township Fleva in Diepsloot. This was the purpose of starting Township Fleva, to produce excellent products and services in underserved township communities and get them access to market. This Easter Huntbag is an example of exactly that! Kudos to Lerato Seheri and team for bringing this to completion.

An ode to the amazing people who make the difference at Woolies 🖤 "Woolies recently had the pleasure of collaborating with the acclaimed praise poet Siphokazi Jonas for our CEO Excellence Awards ceremony, where she performed a spellbinding poem capturing the essence of our brand."  - Woolworths

  • Because our followers on LinkedIn were interested in the large crane we shared pics of a few weeks back, we thought we would share an update 😊 More solar panels were delivered to our HQ today, this time on the roof of Woolworths House, the main building on our campus. Once complete, the combined systems will generate around 730,000 kWh of green energy per year 💚

  • The Woolies Women in Tech committee attended the Women in Tech South Africa International Women’s Day conference - serving as a powerful reminder of the strength in community and shared experiences. Women in Tech International's goal is to empower 5 million women and girls by 2030, and our internal WIT team hopes to contribute towards this goal 🚀 Some of the panel topics of interest included “The role of empowering Africa’s inclusive Digital Economy” and “AI and Web3 for Good: Driving impact and inclusion”. Speakers reiterated the importance of driving positive change and giving people a voice – using technology to drive good outcomes. The event celebrated women, in support of women, and leading with passion and purpose.   Woolies CIO, Dr Christie Koorts, attended the event in support of International Women’s Day. “This was an event of innovation, connection and action. It was a testament to being a part of a group who are passionate about technology and empowerment. I look forward to hosting our next Woolies Women in Tech event soon, as we continue to bridge the gender gap in the field of STEM.”
