#FridayFeels At the end of March 2025 our excellent #Civils #ConcreteRehabilitation and #ConcreteRepair team at the Sasol Secunda Cooling Tower Repair Project reached the noteworthy milestone of 1,250,000 Lost Time Injury Free man hours (achieved over 2 150 LTIF days). In order to maintain the 150-metre high structure’s integrity the repair of the external shell at Sasol’s Unit 245 Cooling Tower 101B cannot be rushed, and requires the team to meticulously complete potentially repetitive tasks at heights, focusing on only small sections of the tower at a time. Their 'offices' are the suspended platforms around the tower, that remain at the same levels to prevent the risk of falling objects in-between working platforms. There are approximately 90 daily site employees that work around 15,000 hours per month and reaching this milestone has been a massive collective effort, with each individual playing an integral part in this achievement! The #StefanuttiStocks Coastal team is currently undertaking the Repair of the Umlazi Canal, next to Mondi and the Old Durban International Airport. The Umlazi River used to flow diagonally through the old airport grounds into a marshland and, to allow for the construction of the airport in the 1950s, had to be redirected to the sea via the canal. It is about 64 metres wide at the bottom, 73 metres wide at the top with a height clearance of 4,6metre. During the floods of April 2022, the water overtopped the canal, washing away many concrete panels and causing a lot of destruction.   Currently an approximately 400 metres long section of the canal is being rehabilitated for Transnet Properties, including the temporary diversion of the river; continued dewatering during construction; demolishing and removing the damaged concrete walls and floor slabs; supply and placing of material for fill purposes; construction of the canal concrete lining walls, floor and parapet concrete walls; reinstatement of the eroded embankment; the supply and placement of rock for embankment protection; as well as the reinstatement of the south bank service road.   The length of the embankment being reinstated is split by an exposed Sasol methane pipe that Stefanutti Stocks will be relaying in a separate contract for SASOL. #WaterInfrastructure #BulkWaterSupplyScheme #PotableWater #WaterAbstraction #NationalWaterMonth #WaterWays

A procurement scam deceives individuals into delivering goods, and could involve: • a fraudulent request for a quote • a fraudulent acceptance of a quote • a fraudulent payment process • a sense of urgency   What could a procurement scam look like? • a request for a quotation is received, from someone claiming to work at, for example, Stefanutti Stocks • a fraudulent acceptance letter is issued, with delivery and payment details • a further letter is issued, indicating the urgency of the delivery • a delivery note payment method is indicated • the supplier delivers goods, and does not get paid by the scammers It is important that you familiarise yourself with our standard procurement processes. Factors to note include • our suppliers are registered on our vendor system, prior to orders being issued;  • payment is only made on valid invoices; • our email addresses end with @ stefstocks.com.   Be vigilant to protect yourself and company from being the victims of a procurement scam. Our #StefanuttiStocks Coastal team is constructing a 3,3 kilometre long pipeline, including a pipe bridge across the Weke-Weke river (located about two thirds of the way down the line), approximately 1km away from the new Westown, Shongweni development. Our client The Fundamentum Property Group ’s objective with this steel bulk water supply development is to supply the Westown precinct, including the #WestownSquare retail, (located directly across from the N3’s Shongweni turnoff) by means of a water connection to the existing eThekwini supply network located in Summerveld. The high specification X42 steel pipeline has a 400mm diameter, and is mortar lined on the inside with an external 3PL polyurethane coating. The line is a gravity design and, due to the large change in elevation, various air valve and scour chambers are situated along the pipeline as well as pressure reduction valves and chambers that were introduced to regulate the terminal pressure to the precinct. The 132 metre long pipe bridge comprises six precast concrete beam span pairs (each 22-metre beam weighs 42 ton), that have been post tensioned before being lifted into position. The beams rest on elastomeric bearings at each support and, once in position, the two sides of each span are "knitted" together by concrete saddles, effectively locking the structure into position. The pipe bridge support structures include five piers that rest on approximately 15-metre deep piles – this is due to the poor geotechnical founding conditions and the risk of disturbance by the river during flooding – and pipe support at either end of the bridge. The remaining pipeline on either side of the bridge is sub-terranean. Our recent projects for #Fundamentum in and around the #WestownShongweni development have afforded us the opportunity to showcase our multidisciplinary construction capabilities. Once Westown Shongweni opens its doors to the public at the end of March this #BulkWaterSupply project is key to the uninterrupted water supply to the Westown Square tenants as well as all of its  public restrooms and washrooms. #WaterInfrastructure #BulkWaterSupplyScheme #PotableWater #WaterAbstraction #WorldWaterDay #NationalWaterWeek #ItsTimeForTheWest #ExcellenceInExecution
