Although the same venue, there is a different course on offer for round two of the UCI XCO World Cup at Araxa, Brazil. Riding the high of delivering her best World Cup results to date, finishing 6th in both the XCC and XCO, Tyler Jacobs is looking to keep the momentum going in this weeks races with a few minor tweaks to her race strategy. Apart from the technical course and flat out bar to bar racing action, the humidity and heat adds another challenge to the riders - thankfully it is similar to that of the Ballito climate that she is used to. It has been a good two weeks for Tyler who has seamlessly integrated into her new team Liv Racing where it looks like every minute off the bike is spent laughing which explains why the results between the tape have been so strong as a happy rider is a fast rider! ➜ Friday, 11 April – U23 Women’s XCC at 11:15(16:15 RSA) - unfortunately only live timing available. Be sure not to miss the Women’s u/23 XCO action which is streamed live on YouTube. A power performance by Shanae Williams at the African Triathlon Championships to claim the Elite Women’s Title. A dominant swim saw Shanae coming out with a big lead getting onto the bike allowing some time to recover as the chase pack closed on lap 3 in preparation for the run. During the run Shanae tested her competitors and saw a gap form till she was once again alone out in front where she would stay to break the tape on the finish line for victory. It wasn’t the only win of the weekend for Shanae as she would be apart of the winning team in the relay race too. #athletemanagement #athletes #sports #sportsmarketing #partnerships #brandbuilding #southafrica #championship #swimming #cycling #running #triathlon #tri #swimbikerun #africanchamps

More praise(from foreigners) for the young team that represented Cycling South Africa at the E3 Saxo Classic in Belgium.
Following on from my last article about the team of South African riders who took on the Belgian Classic E3 Saxo road race, I got more feedback, this time from the mechanic for the team. In Europe the team mechanic is an integral professional role player for a team. They have to be involved and knowledgable of every aspect of the event and each riders needs in terms of equipment and setup. Without a good mechanic the team is no where. So to get additional feedback, from a person I dont know directly, was a pleasant surprise. He had seen the first article and through his wife (who is on instagram under @elanca_kuit but her husband isnt) reached out with more feedback. I asked for a quote and the below is what I received. It impressed on me another aspect of what it takes to pursue a chance of a successful professional career. Here are my thoughts on it.
