Today, the Atlantis Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) celebrated a major milestone as we cut the ribbon on the completed Zone 1 infrastructure and held a sod-turning ceremony for our first investor, Iconic Gases, trading as Quantum V3. These landmark moments mark the official opening of the zone for business and the beginning of a new chapter in sustainable industrial development. Supported by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, the completed infrastructure includes roads, utilities, security systems, and landscaping—laying the groundwork for future growth. With a R30 million investment, Quantum V3 will establish a green manufacturing facility that supplies medical and industrial gases, supports local businesses, creates jobs, and contributes to the regional economy. These achievements highlight ASEZ’s role as a catalyst for inclusive growth, green innovation, and strategic public-private partnerships in the Western Cape. The Atlantis SEZ wants to thank and acknowledge the many stakeholders and partners who have brought us to this point. We look forward to growing together. #AtlantisSEZ #PublicPrivatePartnership #OpenForBusiness #QuantumV3 #SEZSuccess Andrew Whitfield James Vos Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth Jo-Ann Johnston Dean Pillay Matthew Cullinan Jean Antonio Baartman Wesgro Western Cape Government City of Cape Town the dti (Department of Trade and Industry: Republic of South Africa) GreenCape

Pivotal steps are being taken to position South Africa as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment by enhancing international alignment and interoperability, while also improving the usability of the South African Green Finance Taxonomy (SA GTF). Climate Policy Initiative and GreenCape’s latest report for the National Treasury of South Africa, supported by UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions), provides key recommendations to ensure the SA GFT remains a globally competitive framework for sustainable finance. Deeply honoured to have contributed to and present an address at the Second African Forum on Urban Forests, focusing on the critical role of climate finance in building resilient urban futures. We explored key findings from the African Climate Finance Landscape (CPI, 2024) and the South African Climate Finance Landscape (PCC, 2023), highlighting the urgent need for scaled-up investment and domestic capital mobilisation. Sharing insights on the National Treasury, State, and Presidential Climate Commission's initiatives, alongside broader continental efforts, highlighted the power of collaborative action. It was inspiring to connect with delegates from across Africa and witness the real-world impact of urban forestry. Looking forward to continuing these discussions to drive sustainable and transformative change across our cities. Thank you, Ayanda Roji and Gcobisa Magazi for this opportunity. #AFUF2025 #ClimateFinance #UrbanResilience #Africa #Sustainability #secondafricanforumonurbanforests

March was an exciting and impactful month for GreenCape’s Agriculture Sector Desk, filled with collaboration, knowledge sharing, and ecosystem-building! Here are some key highlights: 1. AgTech Ecosystem Event with the City of Cape Town: We kicked off the month with an industry event focused on ecosystem support for agtech SMMEs, featuring insights from UVU Africa, Fsat Labs, and Wesgro. A key takeaway? Beyond financial support, ecosystem support is just as crucial for scaling AgTech businesses. Access to networks, mentorships, and market linkages can make all the difference in driving sustainable growth. 2. Strengthening International Collaboration in Circular Agriculture: The Western Cape Department of Agriculture hosted the Regional Council of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (a sister province of the WC in France), and GreenCape facilitated a visit to the Uilenkraal Biogas Plant to showcase on-farm tech adoption and circular agri efforts in action (Case study can be found on greenagri.org.za) . The delegation also explored the cutting-edge Tissue Culture Facility at Hortgro, highlighting innovation in the sector. 3. Keynote at Africa Agri Tech Conference 2025: I had the opportunity to share insights on AgTech market opportunities in the Western Cape, drawing from our ongoing market research for the 2025 Market Intelligence Report (MIR); stay tuned for its release! 4. Regenerative Agriculture & Circular Farming: I also presented on Regenerative Agriculture as a pathway to climate-smart soil conservation at the Climate Smart Soil Conservation Practices & Sustainable Carbon Farming Conference and shared insights and the importance of on circular agriculture in South Africa at the inaugural South African Circular Agriculture Initiative webinar by GREEN FUTURES HUB. March reinforced the importance of ecosystem collaboration and innovation in building an agricultural system that is resilient, profitable and sustainable. Excited to keep the momentum going into April! #AgTech #SustainableAgriculture #CircularEconomy #RegenerativeFarming #GreenEconomy #Investment
