The National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA), a subsidiary of Eskom Holdings, and Eskom Holdings recently hosted a delegation from Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board (ERB), the Ministry of Energy, Zambia's electricity utility ZESCO Limited, and other key stakeholders in the Zambian electricity supply industry for a two-day international benchmarking exercise at Megawatt Park in Johannesburg on April 1-2, 2025. The study tour aimed to explore best practices in implementing and operating an open-access electricity market. It also provided insights into South Africa’s ongoing reforms toward establishing a System and Market Operator through the newly established NTCSA and the Market Operator—critical steps in fostering competition and enabling open access. This engagement will support Zambia in benchmarking best practices as it moves toward establishing an independent system and market operator. The delegation from the NTCSA that welcomed the Zambian delegation and other stakeholders to the two-day study workshop included Mr. Segomoco Scheppers, Interim Chief Executive Officer; Mr. Andrew Etzinger, General Manager: International Trader; and Ms. Rosemary Gamede, General Manager: Office of the Chief Executive (Acting). Eskom Holdings' delegation included Mr Eric Shunmagum, General Manager: Office of the Group Executive: Generation Division; Mr Malcolm Van Harte, Acting General Manager New Business Development: Distribution Division; and Mr Mutenda Tshipala, Acting General Manager EDx Change: Distribution Division. #Eskom #NTCSA #EnergyTransition #MarketReform #RegionalCollaboration #OpenAccess #ElectricityMarkets

Tampering with your electricity meter to reduce or stop its readings is illegal and considered theft. Remember: Pay for the electricity you use and avoid safety risks, hefty fines, immediate disconnections, removal of the electricity infrastructure, criminal charges and even imprisonment. If someone offers to modify your meter for payment, it’s illegal, dangerous and costly. Pay and be legal. #NoToMeterTampering #StaySafe #PayAndBeLegal
