Between the American Taxation Association's midyear meeting and the Beta Alpha Psi Best Practices competition, UVU's Accounting Department saw three faculty members and four accounting students in Dallas! #UVU #UVUAccounting #UVUMAcc #BetaAlphaPsi #BAP #ATA
I really enjoyed the opportunity to attend the Annual American Taxation Association (ATA) midyear meeting in Dallas last week. The Teaching and Curriculum Conference portion of the event is always my favorite part because as a professional faculty member I love learning more about relevant and engaging ways to enhance tax education in the classroom! For me, the highlights of the conference were the panels and presentations with professionals from EY, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG US, Grant Thornton (US), and Andersen sharing their real-world perspectives on the tax profession including technical updates, developing skills, AI in the tax practice, and timely sessions on post-election tax policy. As a bonus, my colleagues Noah Myers and Marty Van Wagoner were also in Dallas for the Beta Alpha Psi International (BAP) Best Practices Meeting not too far from my hotel. It was great to meet up with them and some of our awesome students (Alexis Beagley, Natalia Vance, Ethan Hill, and Ariana Hernandez) for dinner on Thursday night.
