About us

Born out of the necessity for student housing operators to collaborate and develop best practices in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, industry leaders came together and participated in a routine web meeting to discuss the obstacles facing the industry. As history has proven… difficult circumstances produce innovative solutions. That routine web meeting has evolved into Shop Talk. It’s not just a web meeting. It’s a gathering of industry professionals sharing insight, data, and ideas.

  • ShopTalk is Next Thursday! Join us next Thursday for January's ShopTalk, where we’ll be joined by Charlie Matthews from College House to review pre-leasing data for Fall 2025. This month, we're focusing on how secondary and tertiary markets are performing compared to universities with over 25k enrollment. We've got a fantastic panel with operators who have a strong footprint in tier 2 and tier 3 markets as well as the major flagships. Not only will we be diving into YOY data, but we'll also be hitting on what marketing tactics are more successful (and some that just don't work) in smaller markets. Click below to register and join us next Thursday at 1PM EST! https://wix.to/gCDx8ae

  • ShopTalk is Next Thursday! Since April we have been asking the question "is FASFA impacting pre-leasing decisions?" There has definitely been an impact felt in certain markets based on the feedback we've received from panelists who have been on our pre-leasing review panel. But how will this fiasco ultimately impact university enrollment across the country? We've got the perfect guest lined up for this month's ShopTalk who is reviewing the data and talking to universities across the country about what they are seeing and hearing. Dr. Chuck Ambrose has served as president of 2 universities and is currently the senior consultant for higher education at the Husch Blackwell law firm. He is also the co-author of "Colleges on the Brink - The Case for Financial Exigency." Make sure you join us next Thursday as he helps us read the tea leaves for fall enrollment. https://wix.to/0C3Hyi2
