Looking beyond the condition to treat the whole person! Liselotte Hyveled 🍀 is a visionary in her work to embed the patient voice across the continuum of drug development. It was exciting to hear her optimism for gene therapies, stem cell therapies and biomarkers to transform how we both diagnose and treat pediatric conditions. AND her optimism for treating the whole patient! Because care isn’t just about treating the condition, it’s about including the parents and siblings, and addressing the underlying social determinants of health that so often drive patient behavior. A five-time clinical trial participant let us in on a critical problem in trials that is easily remedied. 👀 The problem is, says Sharon Rivera Sanchez, a patient advocate and seasoned study participant: “Not all trials keep you informed.” ‼️ What does “informed” mean, exactly?
