NAVFAC Southwest is responsible for public works, planning, engineering/design, construction, real estate, environmental services, and acquisition / disposal of facilities and real estate in a six state area on the West Coast. NAVFAC Southwest contracts with commercial businesses to produce and deliver construction for the military such as housing, piers, airfields and hospitals to name a few. The command also provides public works services such as transportation, maintenance, utilities/energy delivery, facilities management and base operations support to the Navy and Marine Corps Installations within its geographic area of responsibility as well as support to other federal agencies in California.

NAVFAC Southwest hosted a Channel Islands Industry Forum March 25 in San Diego. The event brought together more than 130 government contractors to discuss construction opportunities on San Clemente and San Nicolas islands. NAVFAC Southwest Commanding Officer Capt. Laurie Scott and Operations Officer Cmdr. Kristin Whitehouse joined Navy leaders from Naval Base Coronado, Naval Base Ventura County, and NAVFAC Southwest to discuss the upcoming projects and conditions required to do business on the islands.

SAN DIEGO - Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Southwest awarded Aptim Federal Services LLC of Baton Rouge, Louisiana a $12.4 million firm-fixed price modification to previously awarded contract for environmental services, March 27 in San Diego. This modification provides for operation and maintenance of government-owned facilities for the processing and disposition of industrial waste and oily waste. Work will be performed at Navy and Marine Corps installations in the NAVFAC Southwest's area of operations with an expected completion by spring 2026. The Safety Conference was an opportunity for the government and contracting communities to gather, share best practices, and discuss lessons learned to reinvigorate the collective desire for safe, quality construction supporting Marines, Sailors, and their families in Camp Pendleton.

SAN DIEGO – NAVFAC Southwest awarded a $40 million firm-fixed price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to Cody M. Stevens Construction Inc. of Ventura, Calif. on March 12. The contract will cover new construction and repairs of plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems at various locations within the Naval Base Ventura County area of responsibility.
