Curious about how a Life Cycle Assessment is conducted on a waste management solution? An LCA is an essential analysis tool that provides a holistic view of the environmental burdens and benefits associated with a product or process, such as our waste management solution. It captures data during its evaluation of the entire process—from waste collection and processing to energy recovery, and byproduct management—providing comprehensive insights into the environmental footprint of a Juno system. Juno is helping you reach your sustainability goals with a revolutionary solution in waste diversion.
About us
Juno has developed a breakthrough waste recycling technology that uses patented sanitization and separation processes to recover up to 90% of materials it processes, diverting them from landfills and incinerators. These materials – things like fiber, plastics, and metals – are then circulated back into the economy for reuse. Not only is Juno able to reclaim previously unrecyclable materials, but it can also turn food waste into renewable biogas, and each ton of waste processed through a Juno facility represents up to a one-ton net reduction CO2 emissions.* Juno began operating a pilot plant in Savannah, Georgia in 2013, and the first commercial installation opened in Toledo, Oregon in early 2021, with plans to expand around the globe. Making a better world – together. To learn more, visit www.gpjuno.com *We have estimated the CO2e impact for Juno® Technology through the EPA WARM model version 15 using Portland, OR Metro’s 2016 waste characterization. EPA WARM model is a standard for measuring carbon impact in the waste industry.

Paper recycling: Easier said than done? Despite being one of the most recyclable materials, paper remains a dominant part of municipal waste streams. In “The Paradox of Paper Recycling” Christer Henriksson unpacks the unexpected challenges and the innovative solutions shaping the future of sustainable paper use. For professionals in sustainability, waste management, and beyond, this is a must-read. Check out the full article in this month's issue of Recycling Product News and join the conversation!
"Paper is a perplexing commodity in the #recycling market. It's the easiest recycled material, although it remains the most prominent recyclable material found in our municipal waste stream: this is the paradox of paper." - Christer Henriksson, president of Juno Read the full article from our latest issue below ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gxkkvr2t #paperrecycling

Imagine a packed trash truck entering a full-scale Juno facility – and a nearly empty truck exiting. Only ~10% of the trash that arrived goes to the landfill. That’s our breakthrough technology at work! Juno can recover up to 90% of the materials it processes. The reclaimed materials – like paper fiber, food, plastics, and metals – are circulated back into the economy for reuse as raw materials. We’re pleased to share that our Juno™ Fiber played a key role in a recent study by Dr. Alexandra Lanot and the University of York, published in the Journal of Cleaner Production! The study found that fiber obtained from #biobased feedstocks like municipal solid waste can be used to produce textiles, potentially advancing textile-to-textile recycling and enabling a circular economy for fabrics and other materials. Dr. Lanot and her team’s pioneering research could have groundbreaking impacts on sustainability within the fashion industry. We are incredibly proud to be part of this innovative work. #wasterecycling #textilerecycling #sustainability #innovation #circulareconomy
Happy New Year 2025. Finally! I am very pleased to share the publication of our work with academic partners from the UKRI Interdisciplinary Textiles Circularity Centre and promote the use of #Biobased feedstock and #Fermentation to manufacture materials and potentially clothes. https://lnkd.in/ehnXvpzd I wish to extend my thanks to Helen White and Merryn Chilcott from BAM Clothing, Erik and Bill from Juno and Valerie Langer from Canopy. This would not have been possible without the funding from EPSRC, BBSRC, BBNet Phase II NIBB and the University of York.

Today is #AmericaRecyclesDay! 🌍Let's take a moment to recognize the vital role recycling plays in preserving our planet. Did you know that even after our best efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle, there's still more we can do to divert waste from landfills? ♻️ According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in the United States, each person produces about 5 pounds of garbage per day, adding up to nearly 300 million tons annually. That's a lot of waste! Juno® Technology can divert a significant portion of the waste it processes, up to 90% of what would otherwise be lost. Click the link in the comments to learn more about our innovation technology and how we can help communities create a more sustainable future. 🌱 #Recycling #CircularEconomy
