Imagine if the over 8 million Canadians with disabilities asked their local political candidate how they plan to improve the lives of #pwd. Think about the impact if their friends, families, and supporters did as well!
Inclusion Canada has created our 2025 Election Priorities, “Stronger Together”.
We are calling on all political party candidates to read our priorities and commit to improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
From now until election day we will be posting about our five main priorities.

Around the globe, people with autism are making enormous contributions to societies, human endeavors, and individual lives. Today we reflect on those achievements, but we also recognize the significant challenges that remain.
On World Autism Awareness Day, let us recommit to create a world where no person with autism is left behind.
🌼 Fresh air, brighter days, and new energy—it’s spring at Balsam!
As the seasons shift, so does our mindset. At Balsam, we embrace this time of year as a chance to refresh our routines, reconnect with nature, and renew our focus on well-being—for both our team and the persons served.
From outdoor walks to garden prep and quiet moments in the sunshine, spring brings plenty of opportunity to pause, recharge, and enjoy the simple things that support a healthy, connected workplace.
If you’re someone who values a supportive environment where wellness and inclusion go hand in hand, we’d love to connect with you.

At Balsam, inclusion means creating an environment where everyone—team members and persons served—feels respected, supported, and empowered to be themselves.
Whether it’s through communication, collaboration, or simply taking time to listen, our team is committed to making sure every voice is heard and every person belongs.
If you're looking to join a workplace where inclusivity isn’t just talked about—it’s practiced daily, Balsam could be the place for you.

Down syndrome occurs when an individual has an extra partial (or whole) copy of chromosome 21. It is not yet know why this syndrome occurs, but Down syndrome has always been a part of the human condition. It exists in all regions across the globe and commonly results in variable effects on learning styles, physical characteristics and health.
Adequate access to health care, to early intervention programs, and to inclusive education, as well as appropriate research, are vital to the growth and development of the individual.
We want to get the world talking about World Down Syndrome Day! How can you help? By wearing lots of socks! But not just any socks… wear brightly coloured socks, long socks, printed socks, 1 sock, even 3 socks for 3 chromosomes. If you do not normally wear socks, wear them!
Did you know today is Dietitian’s Day?
Dietitians are licensed nutrition professionals that help simplify the science of nutrition to provide advice and information that meets the needs of their clients.
Meet Dallas Smith, our registered dietitian at Balsam. Dallas has been with us for over a year in various capacities.
Not only does Dallas provide 1:1 nutrition counseling but she also provides group education for staff and persons served, food safety training, and a crockpot cooking class where persons served can learn how to cook affordable, simple, and nutritious meals.
