Windows 10 is running out of time – are you ready?

Welcome back to Know IT All. March is here, the days are getting longer, and spring is on its way! It’s also the perfect time for a digital spring clean - starting with your IT setup.

With 227 days until Windows 10’s end of life (as of 1st March), the countdown is on. If you haven’t started planning your upgrade, now’s the time.

Windows 10 has been the go-to solution for many businesses, but its time is running out. From October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide updates, security patches, or support. If your business still relies on Windows 10, now’s the time to start planning your next steps.

So, what does this mean for you? And how can you make the transition as smooth as possible? Let’s break it down.

What happens when support ends?

Once Windows 10 reaches the end of its life, Microsoft will stop releasing critical security updates and bug fixes. That means:

  • Increased security risks – No patches for vulnerabilities, leaving your system open to cyber threats.
  • Compatibility issues – New software may not work properly, affecting productivity.
  • No technical support – Microsoft won’t be there to help if things go wrong.

Simply put, running an outdated operating system puts your business at risk.

Your options: Upgrade or replace?

You have two main choices:

  • Upgrade existing devices – If your current PCs meet Windows 11’s system requirements, you can upgrade. But older devices may struggle with performance.
  • Invest in new hardware – If your devices are more than three years old, replacing them with modern, Windows 11-ready machines could be the smarter, long-term solution.

Why Windows 11?

Windows 11 isn’t just a fresh coat of paint - it’s designed for the future. Upgrading means unlocking:

  • Increased productivity – With an intuitive interface and built-in tools like Microsoft Copilot and Teams, Windows 11 enhances collaboration and efficiency across your workforce.
  • Improved security – Advanced features like malware protection, phishing prevention, and enhanced app security help safeguard your business from modern-day cyber threats.
  • Enhanced user experience – A faster, smoother system means improved performance, fewer disruptions, and a more seamless workflow.
  • Business continuity – Upgrading before the October 2025 deadline helps avoid last-minute disruptions due to device shortages, slow upgrades, and security vulnerabilities.
  • AI integration – Windows 11 is built for AI, offering access to tools like Copilot for Microsoft 365, which streamlines routine tasks, provides intelligent recommendations, and enhances decision-making - keeping your business at the forefront of technological advancements.

The time to act is now

From 1st March, there are only 227 days left until the deadline. Even mid-sized deployments can take up to 14 months, with a full migration averaging 440 days - meaning if you haven't started planning your upgrade, your business may already be behind schedule.

Avoid last-minute stress. Acting now gives you time to assess your needs, secure the right hardware, and ensure a smooth transition without disrupting operations.
