What makes Oracle Cloud Infrastructure different ?

I often been asked this question from many of our customers and colleagues "What makes OCI different from other cloud providers ?" and considering well known CSP's presence and leading the market for a decade now. What additional value does OCI bring to the customers?

Instead of answering this question with OCI services and features which I believe more or less equivalent in all the leading clouds, I ask them a question, How do you get your yearly appraisals ? It may sound not relevant but bear with me it has something to do with OCI.

I mean what criteria is followed in your organization on basis it is decided that an employee will get that much % increase in your annual compensation.

The most likely answer I get to hear is "on the basis of performance", Now just take a pause and think what if there is no way organizations can monitor their employees performance then how hard it would be for an employer to decide which employee is performing well.

Employees have got all the reasons to say that we have been available throughout the year in the office, never taken a leave etc., but just being available means that an employee is performing well. The answer is "No" and that's the reason organizations have the KPI's and performance metrices to measure the employees performance.

Now we come back to actual discussion i.e. the other cloud providers just provide their customers "Availability SLA's" which typically means the services will be available for certain duration and it is just like Employees being available in Office all the time and Availability is not just enough for customers to measure whether the service is performing well or the way it is supposed to be through out the year and the answer is "No".

There is no guarantee or performance/managability SLA's provided by other leading CSP's in case a customer face any service performance issues, which is very common due to shared hardware & software underline and this is where OCI is different.

In OCI a customer not only get availability SLA's rather it offers financially backed Performance and Manageability SLA's for majority of services. which means it guarantees that the services will be highly available , perform the way it is expected to be and customer will be able to manage them as well.

Though there are other factors as well, wherein OCI is differentiator among CSP's but I wanted describe this point as I feel, if customer is paying for a service then he has all rights to get the performance assurance as well.
