This Week in Crypto: Ethereum’s New Pectra Update, New Memecoin on the Rise, and Fan Tokens Booming in This Market
This week’s biggest updates cover a little bit of everything, with Ethereum’s biggest update yet, to Elon supporting a new meme coin? And of course with Champions League semi-finals, football fan tokens are hyping.
Ethereum Pectra Update
Ethereum has announced its most significant upgrade since the Merge: Pectra. Framed as an upgrade “for the people,” Pectra aims to enhance the Ethereum network by improving transaction speed, reducing costs, and significantly enhancing user experience—broadening accessibility beyond developers and crypto-native users.
While substantial progress has been made since the Merge in 2022, much of it has occurred behind the scenes. Pectra represents a shift in focus toward usability, delivering a more streamlined interface, greater efficiency, and a user experience that aligns more closely with mainstream application standards.
In tandem with the technical upgrade, the Ethereum Foundation is also refining its communication approach. Going forward, the @Ethereum account will serve as the primary channel for protocol-level announcements, while @EthereumFndn will focus on updates related to the Foundation’s initiatives, such as grants, governance, and ecosystem support.
MOG Is the New Doge?
MOG Coin, the meme-fueled token on Ethereum and Base, has exploded by over 100% in the last month. The hype? It’s riding the wave of the “mog/acc” movement — a combo of "mogging" (dominating others) and accelerationism (tech-powered evolution).
This trend has caught fire online, even drawing attention from heavyweights like Elon Musk and Y Combinator’s Garry Tan, boosting both MOG’s clout and price.
The coin’s mascot, Joycat, plus the now-iconic Pit Viper sunglasses, have become digital culture signals for mog/acc believers — and MOG’s listing on Coinbase added even more fuel to the fire.
$INTER Jumps After Thriller Win
Inter Milan secured a dramatic 4–3 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League semifinal, a result that was immediately reflected in the performance of the $INTER fan token, which surged over 10% following the match.
However, such increases in fan token value are often driven by short-term sentiment rather than long-term fundamentals. Historically, these assets tend to experience volatility, with post-match enthusiasm frequently followed by price corrections—as seen with other club tokens in similar situations.
That said, with Inter now advancing to the final, sustained interest and anticipation could continue to support upward momentum for $INTER in the near term.
That wraps up this week’s #Tothemoon_Market_Update. Stay tuned for more insights next week!
