TikTok looks to integrate new "story" features into the app
TikTok looks to add a new feature within the app. They are currently experimenting with a new stories feature, as highlighted by social media expert Matt Navarra.¹ This new feature is supposed to integrate stories into users' day-to-day content.
Creators' stories would be shared on users' "For You" and "Following" feeds, rather than their own separate space within the app. As of now, only a handful of creators have access to this feature.
How the new feature works
This new feature will be called "TikTok Stories" and will work similar to other stories functions on apps such as Instagram and Snapchat. Stories will be embedded into the focal points on TikTok and automatically deleted after 24 hours of being posted.
Other users will be able to react and comment on stories as well. Users will also be able to click on the creator's profile pictures to view their stories. Tiktok describes this new feature as "a new way to interact with fans." ²

TikTok stories will be marked with a blue marker at the bottom of the screen that indicates the difference between a traditional post and a story. The indicator will also show how many frames are in the story.
When to expect the new feature
TikTok announced pilot testing for their story features in August of last year, allowing a handful of creators to access the new feature. More than five months later, TikTok is still testing stories. As of now there’s no sight of the feature rolling out publicly.³
The new feature is still in its early testing phase and is being adjusted to ensure that it fits in with the TikTok experience.
