Team Member Q&A - Sharon Steingruber

Sharon Steingruber , Senior Account Executive at Sigil Partners , shares her journey into recruiting, what brought her to Sigil, and the values that drive her work. From balancing technology with the human touch to thriving in a supportive team culture, Sharon offers fresh insights into navigating the ever-changing staffing industry.

Could you tell us a little bit about your early career start and path to recruiting?  How did you enter the industry?  I have always been in some type of client facing/sales role.  After a few years of being at home with kids I was recruited by a friend to work in IT Staffing.  It was a great fit from the start. I love connecting people, solving problems and being an advocate for both my clients and my candidates.  It's been incredibly rewarding and fun.

How long have you been with SP? - What motivated you to join? I started with SP just two months ago.  I was looking for a company that had a lot of the same values that I do - Authenticity, Reliability, Respect, Connection.  I saw all of this with the leadership and team at Sigil.

What have you learned at SP, and what have been some of your most significant accomplishments in recruiting recently? Any individual achievements you’re proud of?  I've learned a little about other types of staffing than IT from my colleagues at Sigil.  I've also had to lean into building an entirely new book of business.  It can be a bit daunting "starting fresh" but this team has been incredibly supportive and has great ideas.

What changes or innovations do you expect to see in the staffing industry in 2025 and beyond?  Everyone talks about AI taking over the staffing industry, but I don't think the need for actual people in recruiting and staffing will ever go away.  The power of human emotion, touch, and gut instinct can't be replicated. The process may change but not everything can be determined by a bot, nor can AI solve a business problem that needs people. There are so many new technologies, and skill sets that we need to be aware of...Green Computing, Disinformation Security, and AI Governance to name a few.  The need for hiring managers to have help finding the right people for emerging tech will always be around.

You’ve been part of several teams in your career—what aspects of the company culture do you value most? Do you see this reflected at SP? The best cultures are always the ones where teams lift each other up, celebrate wins and are by your side when work is hard.  Also, when leadership is aware of and appreciate the hard work being done by all members of the company, people want to work harder for those leaders.  The leadership and team at Sigil are 100% committed to rising each other up and supporting each other in every way possible. And it's a fun team so that always makes for a good culture!

What do you like to do in your spare time? - Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work that you would like to share? I love to be outside; I walk a lot.  I'm starting pickleball, which is fun. I'm a good cook and love to host anything but especially love to have all of my family around me.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?  There's no secret short cut to being successful...it takes hard work and determination.  When you are done for the day and don't think you can do anything else, make one last call or prospect in some way.  It's not easy but sometimes that last call can result in something great!
