  • Choose one of the following methods to set permissions: Add User to Group: Assign the user to an existing IAM group (e.g., Admins or Developers) that has pre-defined permissions. Copy Permissions from an Existing User: Clone permissions from an already configured user. Attach Policies Directly: Attach specific policies (e.g., AdministratorAccess, ReadOnlyAccess) directly to the user.

Additional Tips

  • Enable MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication): For better security, enable MFA for IAM users. (Another content will be created on a step-by-step guide on how to do this.
  • Grant Least Privilege: Always provide the minimum permissions required for a user to perform their tasks.
  • Regularly Review User Permissions: Periodically audit permissions and remove unnecessary access.

Why IAM Users Are Important

IAM users help you manage access securely, ensuring every individual or system only gets the permissions they need. This approach prevents unauthorized access and helps maintain a secure AWS environment. With IAM users, there is less access to the root user who has super admin access.
