When we set out to create the Software Testing Essentials Certification (STEC), we wanted it to be valuable, modern and co-created with the community. And it’s been a long journey. 

A bit more precisely. It’s been a year-long journey of heads down in creation mode. It’s been a huge investment on our side. This shows in the 18 modules that it consists of and the 57 people who contributed with their knowledge and expertise.

And honestly, from my perspective as Founder and CEO of MoT, I’ve been personally reviewing every module. It’s been such a joy to see this come to life with the people who care so much about the software testing craft.

The energy shows up in every part of the certification. People talking about and explaining testing things from their own passions, perspectives and experiences. The stories that are told are real and relevant. It touches on knowledge and theory,  backed by so many fascinating stories of the people to help make it make sense.

Help it make sense! The people help it make sense. 

This is what I love so much. The great thing is that there’s a good chance you will converse and meet with these very people who helped create the course. That could be in The Club, TestBash, our Slack, local meetups…basically within the MoTaverse.

Yes, it’s a certification. It’s designed to get you from A to B as quickly as possible. It’s also got community by your side, all along the way. You never have to walk alone. Even better, it will help you walk with confidence. It is the community by your side that will expand your confidence.

STEC is different to other certificates like ISTQB, BBST and many others. And we’re proud to offer something different. “Should I get a testing certificate?” can polarise, yet STEC is here to harmonise. There is simply nothing else like it.

It’s taken longer than expected. It’s definitely one of those things that could be easy to think would take a few weeks, but here we are, a year later, finishing it up. There’s still work to do, but it’s mostly editing and processing work. We’re just about to ship Module 12 of 18.
