Let's start with the less-fun news.

Federal budget deliberations are beginning, and all solar industry eyes are on the IRA.

There is significant bipartisan support for the IRA given the manufacturing and other credits benefitting both red and blue districts across the country. This week, 21 House Republicans signed a letter asking the committee chair to preserve it.

Meanwhile, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) spent the week taking the Elon Musk chainsaw to many climate-related programs established by the Biden Administration. It appears the Solar for All grant program is safe for now, but SPW will keep an eye on those developments.

On the positive side, the solar industry broke major records in 2024, installing a whopping 50 GW of new capacity in one year. The estimated number released by Wood Mackenzie earlier increased after a last-minute push to complete projects once Trump was elected.

Solar's 2024 milestone marked the largest single year of new capacity added to the grid by any energy technology in over two decades.
