Spring 24 - a Top 10 features List

Really, where to start! This is a great release that has AI built in to so many places but also some long overdue Admin features that are going to make life so much easier. In our hemispherical challenged world, writing from Sydney the new Salesforce Release that's already in your Sandboxes is going to make a big difference. As Practice Director at CloudActive I've tried to target this list to areas that will save time and increase productivity for our Team and Clients. Hope it helps, and there are some great resource links at the end of the article.

# 1 Access Fields from Related Objects on Dynamic Form Record Pages

Dynamic Forms on Lightning Pages can now go 2 levels deep - no more Formulas required. How many hundreds of Formula Fields will this save in a year!!!

This new Cross Object Field feature produces Read Only data and is super easy to use. You are not creating yet more Fields just using a Related Field on your Objects Lightning Page.

#2 AI Einstein for Admins

Formulas will have an Einstein button that you can hit to explain the Formula for in formula fields, validation rules, and default values (How cool).

This is really ground breaking and I know Flow Builder is on the Roadmap to come. Einstein telling us what complex code is meant to do will help with Code Reviews and troubleshooting. It's a super powerful new feature and it works really well and I'm sure will only get better.

#3 Sandbox Love

I can't remember the last Sandbox enhancement but like waiting for buses they come together.

Speed - Hyperforce customers can now copy and create sandboxes up to 2–3x faster using Quick Clone and Quick Create.

Security - Admins now can limit sandbox access to required users only in fewer steps. That's important as Data breaches can come via Sandboxes so the more safeguards we have the better.

#4 API Names available on Lightning Pages

Sounds small but NO! As a Salesforce Implementation and AppExchange Partner we work in many multi-vendor Salesforce environments. How many "Lead Sources" can there be or "Type" which can have 5 or 6 Fields with that Label on the same Object. What we do as a Partner is add CA_ in front of any API Names so we can easily see what Fields CloudActive has created and now we get to see that on the UI and not guess - priceless.

#5 Migrate More Processes with the Updated Migrate to Flow Tool

This is important because only 34% of Workflows and 12% of Process Builders have been migrated to Flow. That's a lot of future work for clients and Partners alike. This makes it that bit easier to migrate complex build partially and then you can work on the rest (in a Sandbox of course)

#6 Dynamic Forms on Mobile for Standard Objects

This is important and fills a real gap. As we know Salesforce often release features for Custom Object first and in this case the power of Dynamic Forms for Mobile were released in Winter 24 but we now have the really useful Standard Objects so Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities and more can have Dynamic Forms on Mobile.

#7 Permission Set Deletion Warning

Ok! In the short term this one doesn't increase productivity and some may find it annoying. But in the long term you will be happy not having to troubleshoot why Jack from Inside Sales can't sell anymore.

Delete Permission Sets

Let's also get real with Permission Sets - Salesforce will deprecate most Permissions on Profiles, you will need to use Permission Sets and Permission Set Groups to make your org hum. Start implementing those now, don't wait.

#8 Generate content with AI in Account Engagement (Pardot)

Ok! only available to higher License SKU's for now but it's a pretty big thing and more AI is what we are going to get. Use generative AI to create content for landing pages, emails, and subject lines.

#9 Show which Flows use which Email Alert

This is a great touch and follows in the line of the "Where is this Field Used" Button, which may be my favourite go to on the whole of the Platform! Now you can see which Flows use Email Alerts and don't delete them just because.

#10 Generative AI for Developers

A lot is coming in this space, some now, some in Beta and some in the next release. Here's a feel for what is on the horizon and I know our Dev team are really excited by AI and what it can bring.
