Smart Society Ventures welcomes Debbie Wosskow, OBE as a Founding Advisor

I am very pleased to share that Debbie Wosskow, OBE has joined Smart Society Ventures as a Founding Advisor.  Wosskow is a multi-exit entrepreneur, Board advisor and investor, who is Co-Chair of the UK government’s Invest in Women Taskforce.  Since selling her UK scale-up LoveHomeSwap to Accor, Wosskow has dedicated her work to growing capital and support for female entrepreneurs and investors. Today, less than 9% of European assets under management (AUM) are managed by women and just 23 women in the UK have a stake in a venture capital firm – and even fewer lead them! Female GPs are 2x more likely to back female founders.

I have known Wosskow for more than 15 years.  We initially met as fellow UK scale-up Founder CEOs through Sherry Coutu and Reid Hoffman’s Silicon Valley Comes 2 UK (SV2UK) initiative. Since then, we have remained closely connected, as both colleagues and friends, looking at numerous investment opportunities and trading support for the beautiful, and often challenging, journey that is building companies and families.

I am incredibly pleased to now be working formally with Wosskow as an SSV Founding Advisor.  As two people who care deeply about the future of our world – and who is makes the capital allocation and innovation decisions for it – Wosskow and I could not be more motivated to work together over coming years to expand diversity in fund management, accelerate Net Zero and grow the next generation of tech unicorns.  Together with SSV Founding Partner Steve Black and Strategic Advisors Rt. Hon. Chris Skidmore and Roger Lang, we are excited about our mission to build SSV into the world’s leading climate and energy technology venture capital firm – with diversity in our DNA from day one.
