Setting up Oracle Database At Azure Pay As You Go Edition - Final steps

We shall now explore the steps to create a new Oracle Autonomous Database.

  1. Navigate to the Oracle Database@Azure screen and click on the Oracle Autonomous Database Service as shown below

2. Click on the create autonomous database button to begin the process

3. Please fill in the following details

a) Choose the Resource Group

b) Give the instance a name

c) Choose the Region East US --> This is very important as East US is the region in OCI for now to support the multi-cloud service in the Americas.

You may view the list of supported regions below


Oracle Database@Azure is available in the following locations. Oracle Database@Azure infrastructure resources must be provisioned in the Azure regions listed.

Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA)

Azure region

(Europe) Germany West Central Germany Central (Frankfurt)

(Europe) UK SouthUK South (London)

North America (NA)

Create Autonomous Database Screen 1


4. In the next screen fill in the details and choice of Database Type --> ATP / ADW - Autonomous Transaction / Datawarehouse --> I have chosen ATP

Version: I have chosen 23ai

Fill in the details of Size and CPUs --> I have chosen 2 VCPUs and 20 GB of storage

Fill in the details of your Password: ADMIN is the default username

Finally fill in the License Type: I have chosen License Included.

5. In the networking section, make sure you have chosen the Private Subnet that has an association for Oracle Network Attachments

6. Now we shall enter a contact email to be notified of any updates. The default patch level is Regular

7. Accept the agreement

Feel free to add a Tag and Click Review And create!

Click Create to provision the Autonomous Database



This process will take around 15-30 mins so please be patient depending on the Clouds load.

Provisioning


The process will involve initiating a Multi-Cloud link between Azure and OCI.

In your OCI Console.

Navigate to your compartment and see the provisioning taking place.

You will need to navigate to the Multi-cloud link compartment to view it.

Now we shall see the Azure Side of things

Now let's explore on how to connect to it.

Navigate the connections section under Settings

Click Download wallet

Now let's download the wallet, choose Instance wallet, provide a password and click Download

You will need to download the wallet.zip file to your Downloads location.


You will need to provision an Azure VM compute instance and install VSCode and Oracle SQLDeveloper extension for VSCode and using the Cloud Wallet, you may connect to the instance as shown below.

Congratulations!! You now have successfully setup Oracle Database @ Azure !
