Route Structure for All Nippon Airways - 2017
ANA operates on both domestic and international routes. The airline offers 99 destinations with the latest addition of Cambodia and Mexico. Compared to its last year (July 2015 to July 2016 taken) ANA has seen an increase of 4.7% in its Available Seat Kilometer (ASK) in the recent year (July 2016 to July 2017 taken), as well as an increase of 0.7% in seats and 0.7% in the number of flights. The data has been taken from FlightGlobal and the variable applied here is that the destinations are compiled into groups, i.e., ANA serves 53 destinations within Japan all the 53 destinations are compiled under one country, Japan.
Figure 1.0 shows the destinations served by the airline (ANA). 53 of the 99 destinations are domestic while the rest of them are international. Comparing to its rival back home, JAL airways, which has 78 destinations as of 78 with an induction of 3 new domestic routes of Rishiri, Okushiri and Sapporo. ANA has a stronger domestic network with 53 destinations within Japan, compared to JAL airways which offers only 40 destinations. ANA also serves more regions (4) compared to JAL airways (3) as they introduced their flights to Mexico connecting Japan with Latin America. The flight was introduced back in February of this year making it one of the longest nonstop flight served by ANA (All Nippon Airways). ANA is the first airline in Japan to serve a direct flight from Japan to Mexico. Being in an Alliance (Star Alliance), enables ANA to serve almost 120 destinations over the globe.
