As continuing from the previous post on RIC, and a brief about the concepts behind. RIC is, in essence, about rAPPs and xAPPs coming from different vendors and independent to each other for the sake of their developments and deployments, all for having a multivendor ecosystem that no doubt creates challenges for interoperability and effective deployments. Hopefully the framework caters the challenges by providing respective functionality to manage, coordinate and execute.
Non-Real Time RIC provides R1 interface to expose its capability and functionality for sake of rAPPs development and deployments, rAPPs are provided with A1 interface mainly for Policy specific implementation and O1 interface mainly for OAM perspectives to deal with Near-Real Time RIC and also directly to DU and CU through O1 interface.
R1 Interface exposes many implementations as part of SMO capability to rAPPs, and it is the holistic concepts where intelligence is involved in RIC as Radio Controller. SMO has many interfaces and open to accommodate many external interfaces to enhance the intelligence required to take decision and apply policies and configuration, also getting inferences required to optimize network.
rAPPs can come from different vendors and having an abstraction level that they are independent of the vendors specifics underlying in terms of network elements and interaction with them through xAPPs. Although there is O1 interface which may cater the vendor specific insights from network elements point of view and need to be exposed to rAPPs.

That’s the way I always Cheris the rAPPs for sake of an ecosystem developments completely thinking from the point of view of network. Independently able to think of network and its services and optimization for different intents, like for example most hyped one, now days, is energy efficiency and respectively EE-rAPPs.
And as per the figure -2 above we should not miss the O2 interface as well, which jumps on the platform, i.e. exposure of the platform specific data where the network functions are being run or executed. This is what I refer to in my most of writing for E2E visibility and provide a holistic approach to optimize network for various intentions or specifics.
