RHD CONNECTIONS

Hello Friend!

This month, we're thrilled to spotlight Tim Quinn, a talented artist from RHD's Center for Creative Works (CCW), whose incredible artwork will soon be displayed in Bank of America branches.

RHD's A-Team made headlines for their outstanding work in Allegheny County, showcasing the impact of their efforts.

Our New Orleans Mobile Crisis Intervention Unit (MCIU) received a generous donation to support staff wellness, recognition, and retention initiatives.

Meanwhile, RHD's South Dakota Shared Living team enjoyed a magical day at Terry Peak, filled with laughter and creating lasting memories together.

How the A-Team Is Bridging Gaps in Crisis Response

On January 11, our A-Team was featured in the news! Allegheny County has introduced a pilot program of alternate responders addressing specific 911 calls. This initiative aims to alleviate the burden on traditional first responders by managing non-violent, non-medical emergencies.

The A-Team comprises 28 professionals divided into three units covering the county’s East and West regions. They collaborate with police departments, either accompanying officers or acting independently, to de-escalate situations and connect individuals with necessary services.

Jon Chillinsky, Director of the A-Team, emphasized the program’s role: “In the city of bridges, this bridges the gap; we connect people to the right resource.”

Since its launch, the A-Team has engaged in over 100 calls, providing immediate crisis intervention and short-term follow-up care to ensure individuals receive appropriate support.

The A-Team consists of mental and behavioral health professionals with diverse backgrounds and specialized expertise. Each member undergoes extensive training in crisis intervention and de-escalation, preparing them to handle challenging situations effectively. They bring a wide range of skills, including therapeutic techniques, conflict resolution, cultural competency, and collaboration with other stakeholders. Together, the A-Team is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to individuals in crisis, promoting positive outcomes and community well-being.

RHD's CCW Artist Tim Quinn’s Work to Be Showcased Nationwide with ArtLifting and Bank of America

RHD’s CCW artist Tim Quinn.

We’re thrilled to share exciting news from RHD’s Center for Creative Works (CCW) and ArtLifting!

Prints of artwork by RHD’s CCW artist Tim Quinn will soon be showcased in more than 70 Bank of America branches nationwide by 2026. This initiative is part of a national collaboration with ArtLifting, a social enterprise dedicated to helping artists with disabilities thrive by increasing their visibility and financial opportunities.

Tim has a specific, line-oriented approach to composition, developing and expanding his range of marks with different materials. Using a combination of calligraphy pen and ink, metallic pen, and watercolor, Quinn creates beds of mark that build inside and expand back out in labyrinth and grid formations, revealing and obscuring passages through layering.

“On the wall of the warehouse. In my father’s office. Inside my house. I have no clue where. I start with a line that goes all around.“ – Tim Quinn

His work has been featured at Jed Williams Gallery (Philadelphia), Fleisher/Ollman (Philadelphia), VOX Populi (Philadelphia), Patricia Nugent Gallery (Rosemont, PA), Haverford College (Haverford, PA), and Crawford Fine Art Gallery in Cork, Ireland, among other venues.
