The Repower World Summit 2025, Katowice, Poland - Meet Our Speakers!

The Repower World Summit 2025 will take place in Katowice, Poland, on March 4th – 5th. It is hosted by the Silesian University of Technology, partnering with Quantified Carbon.

The summit gathers experts from policy, technology, finance, industry and research, to explore repowering coal-based energy systems: replacing coal boilers with low-emission generation sources at their existing sites.

This multidisciplinary event will accelerate the forward momentum of decarbonising global energy systems, to meet the electricity and heating demands of a fast-changing world.


Here are some of the many expert speakers featured at the event: 

Baroness Bryony Worthington, Advisor, Repower Initiative: A key architect of the UK's Climate Change Act, with roles in the energy industry, non-profits, and philanthropy.

Bożena Horbaczewska, Assistant Professor, SGH Warsaw School of Economics: An expert in the economic and financial aspects of nuclear energy.

Julia Skorupska, Head of Secretariat, Powering Past Coal Alliance: A former UK diplomat, she works with PPCA to advance the transition from unabated coal power to clean energy. 

Maciej Lipka, Nuclear engineering specialist: A specialist in nuclear reactor safety, decarbonisation, and the integration of renewable and nuclear energy.

Ning Li, Founding Dean, College of Energy, Xiamen University (Keynote Speaker for Day 2): A distinguished professor with notable roles at UC Berkeley and Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Patryk Białas, Director, Innovation and Competence Center at the Euro-Centrum Science and Technology Park in Katowice: A councillor, speaker and activist involved in technological advancement, and engaging communities on climate, ecology, and just transition issues. 

Paweł Gajda, Director, Nuclear Energy Department at the Ministry of Industry: A General Secretary of the Polish Nuclear Society and board member of the European Nuclear Society.  

Dr Staffan Qvist, CEO, Quantified Carbon (Keynote Speaker for Day 1): Founder of Repower Initiative. He has written and published extensively on Nuclear Science and Engineering.

Stanisław Tokarski: A Doctor of Engineering at the Academy of Science and Technology (AGH), a contributor to European institutions on legal acts related to the electricity/fuel sectors.
