Ransomware with a new twist
I have been talking with small and medium sized businesses about ransomware for a while already and most think "it won't happen to me". Even after reading the current articles about the hospital in CA, they still think they are too small for anyone to notice.
Sorry to bust your bubble guys but some of your friends and rivals have been hit with versions of Cryptolocker, TorrentLocker and CryptoWall. I have even had friends come to me and ask me if they should pay the ransom when they got hit on their home machines and could have lost thousands of pictures (most paid on their own by the way).
A new flavor of ransomware, similar in its mode of attack to the notorious Dridex banking malware, is causing havoc with some users. Hopefully users do not have macros enabled in their Microsoft software.
