Putting people first, CSL leads promising futures

At CSL we are committed to promising futures for our employees and their careers, and to always care, always dare and always change for the better. Today, our offerings are more diverse than ever to help ensure patients and people everywhere get the treatments they need.

We invited some of our team members around the globe to share what CSL’s Promising Futures means to them.

“As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at CSL Taiwan, I work in the emerging field of the pharmaceutical industry that is affiliated with the Medical Department. My journey began as a hospital pharmacist where I engaged in challenging discussions with physicians and participated in case reviews, which is quite similar to my current role at CSL.

However, in 2018, I was presented with a unique opportunity to transition from my previous role and join the sales team. This move has allowed me to expand my skillset and gain valuable experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

I firmly believe that continuous learning and growth is essential to thrive in any profession. A rolling stone gathers no moss, and I am always seeking new challenges and experiences to improve myself. My passion for helping patients remains the same, and I am fortunate to be in a position where I can do just that at CSL.

In summary, as an MSL at CSL Taiwan, I am continuously growing skill set to advance my career, always looking for new opportunities to help more patients in different roles in the future. ”

“What does Promising Futures at CSL mean to me? It means that employees are encouraged to do what they love, and are given the opportunity to explore an avenue that might be a bit different to what they have previously done.

Before I transitioned from a career in science to communications, I loved working for CSL, and I was grateful that they gave me the opportunity to move across. My previous managers were incredibly supportive of my career change and understood that this was what I wanted to do.

Then, my new managers and team members were supportive too, giving me time to learn my new trade and offering support and information to help me succeed.

It might have been easy for another company to discard me once they realized I wanted to change tracks. But CSL not only kept me on board, they encouraged me to apply for opportunities and gain experience within the company. Promising Futures means that I love what I do and I can see a clear career pathway ahead of me, with CSL supporting me every step of the way.”

“I have been in pharmaceutical sales for the last 19 years. At CSL Behring, where I have been for over eight years, I have truly felt the company’s Promising Future! I changed jobs twice, and both times, I found the sales manager roles quite challenging. In fact, my time at CSL has basically taken up half of my career and it has been the most important career period for me.

I believe that in your career development, it’s important to have goals, understand your capabilities and then, have a plan for addressing skill gaps.

The most profound thing I have discovered is to step outside my comfort zone. Remember: Don’t forget the original intent. We must remember our original dream to keep at it to get the results we want. Paul Li, our SVP and GM of Commercial Operations APAC once said, “With faith in your heart, there will be strength under your feet” and Harold Chan, VP and GM of Commercial Operations, Greater China said, ‘It’s not enough to equip with power. Perseverance is very important as well.’ Both messages really resonate with me. And I would like to add to this: Bear it all the time, wait for the flowers to bloom! Share with everyone!”

“I think I am lucky and it rocks to be a sales rep at CSL Behring! While the area I cover as a sales rep is vast, the complexity and scale demand a structured approach. I decided to support key hospitals in Xinjiang, and in 2020, I was assigned there as acting District Sales Manager. I was trained, mentored and exposed to more leadership responsibilities and all of these contributed to significant improvement in my abilities.

In 2021, I was thrilled to receive the Outstanding Performance Award and was officially promoted to District Sales Manager. I have to say, acting in the role versus taking on the role are so very different.

It was a tough year with a new appointment, increased market pressures and then, leading a team with limited experience. I was so exhausted that I almost collapsed. It’s not been easy but with a stronger heart and a smoother transition, I am moving on up. Yes, I am. And I think that by being myself and taking chances, I will continue to be lucky.”
