SUNY launched a two-week no-fee application process open to any students interested in applying. On Oct. 25, SUNY had dropped the fee across all 64 colleges, leading to potential savings adding up to $250 per applicant, according to the SUNY website. Since launching this initiative, there has been at least a 110 percent increase in applications reported for the fall 2023 cycle.
"The increase in applications has far exceeded our expectations,” Wincowski cited recently. “It is a testament to the high-quality education for which SUNY is known, with some of the best faculty, staff and campus communities in the nation. This increase is only the beginning of an upward trend we expect in enrollment across our campuses."

MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS
Consider Mutual Growth Federations
"Facing enrollment and financial challenges, many private colleges and universities begin thinking of a merger with another institution as the answer. However, there are a variety of other strategic moves that may be much more effective in meeting current challenges and pursuing new opportunities for long-term growth and stability. These so-called “mutual growth federations” can produce new markets, significant cost savings and new programs that are hard to develop independently, while preserving institutional identities, maintaining existing boards, missions and long-held ties to alumni and donors. Several recently created models will be explored."
