Protect your PC from Virus

1) Running Scans

a. Data Backup

b. Check for other factors

d. Reboot in Safe Mode

2) Removing Viruses Manually

a. Download Autoruns
Now that you are going to spot and remove viruses manually, you need a program called Autoruns to help you out. It is provided by Microsoft. It will help you see list of all the programs that run when you start up your computer. Download Autoruns and keep it in an easily accessible spot.

b. Filter Autoruns’ Options
Autoruns will help you find infected files and it is easier to do so by filtering Autoruns options before you start. Click on the Options Menu and select Filter Options. Now you have to check the following boxes: Include empty locations, Verify code signatures, Hide signed Microsoft entries.

c. Reboot in Safe Mode with Networking
This is similar to booting in safe mode, but with networking it will allow you to access the internet. This will come handy to check for virus infected files in your system. You can safely disable infected services, which are infected by viruses in this mode.

d. Start Autoruns
After booting in safe mode, run the Autoruns program you installed earlier. Let it show you all the results.

e. Search for Virus
This step is extremely important in the process of removing viruses manually. You have to be checking the scan results of Autoruns one by one for viruses.Both the entry name and location are of priority here. If you do not find any entry legitimate, kindly search in online and check as well. Process Library is one such resource online. Keep an eye on Logon and Services tab as most of the viruses can be found there itself. Check on Windows processes if they are also infected. Check them thoroughly and also make a record of the locations before you remove.

f. Delete the malware related entries
In order to remove virus, select and delete the entry by right clicking on it. This will remove the infection not the file. Delete entries and the files associated with them side by side.

g. Remove Files Associated with that entry
Reveal hidden files so that all the files can be seen when you delete them. It is necessary to remove them all to get rid of viruses.

h. Reboot your Computer
Restart your computer and see if the problems have gone or not. Most probably your computer is now safe and secure. But if same old problems persist, you have to follow the next step.

i. Reinstall Windows
The last option for removing viruses manually is re installing Windows. This way you can get rid of every infection as you wipe your hard drive clean. Please ensure that you back everything of value before you initiate this step.

3) Removing Mac Viruses
Viruses in Mac! Sounds strange, Macs are also not safe and secure from viruses anymore and you have to take special care of your Mac as well. Otherwise infections will plague it and you will lose personal information. Follow these steps to remove Mac viruses easily.

a. Install Mac-specific antivirus program
Sophos, Intego, Norton etc. are some of the popular PC protection programs for Mac. Hacker groups specifically target Mac users, who have no idea about its security. This increases the number of infections and makes your machine prone to more attacks. Install if you don’t have an antivirus on your Mac to proceed further.
b. Run a scan
Now with the antivirus scan the Mac and all the drives in it. The list of results that have been infected should be removed. The efficient virus scanners for Mac find all the possible infections. These viruses are very easy to remove.

c. Run a scan again, but with another program
Do not stop yet, uninstall the first antivirus scanner and repeat the first two steps of this method with a new scanner. This way you leave no stone unturned and catch those infection that the first scanner might have left behind. The chances of this are few but it is good to follow this process.

d. Reinstall OS X
