The Power of Consistency
Consistency is the path to success

The Power of Consistency

Have you read The Power of Consistency by Weldon Long? If you haven’t yet, I highly recommend it. I incorporate his process into my daily affirmations: What I Want, What I Want to Become, and What I Want to Contribute. I believe that it’s part of the success I’ve achieved, and I want the same for you.

The underlying idea is to train your mind and master the “Prosperity Mindset.”

The book helps you create a simple plan to produce results based on what you truly want out of life: improving your business, career, personal life, etc. Weldon helps you become focused on what you want. He teaches you the importance of being emotionally committed to achieving your goals. Weldon tells you why it’s essential to have a Quiet-Time ritual every day. He also addresses the importance of being responsible for your decisions in your everyday life.

Since you’re reading this, I know you’re an intelligent, achievement-oriented person so I’m going to assume you’re on board with the idea of setting meaningful goals for yourself. To reach those goals, you must consistently do the things that bring you closer to them.

With me so far? Great. Here’s the big takeaway: the thoughts and beliefs we consistently have will guide those actions. The cumulative results of those actions, in turn, create the quality and circumstances of our lives and our work. So, to achieve the outcome we want, we must begin by intentionally transforming the thoughts we have.

Prosperity Plan

It begins with developing a Prosperity Plan. It is compelling and holds power for you. From there, it’s a four-step process:

First, to achieve your goals, you need to focus on the most important things. Just as important as what to focus on is what not to focus on. Almost everyone is guilty of wasting time with ‘busywork’ that feels productive but isn’t. By practicing consistency, you can avoid this.

The second step is creating an emotional attachment to the outcome. Allow yourself to revel in the glow of satisfaction you’d get from achieving your goals. Envision it vividly! It’s an emotional attachment to your goals that will help to sustain your efforts in the face of adversity and challenge.

Consistent action is the next step. I regularly turn to the plan I’ve developed for myself to remind me where I need to put my focus. Consistent action is where the emotional connection is vital: with time and training, that deeply felt desire for what you want to achieve guides your actions as second nature.

Conclusion – The Power of Consistency

There’s an old saying that captures the final step succinctly: “If it is to be, it’s up to me.” This process requires that you hold yourself responsible for your actions and outcomes. Adversity and challenge will come, and you often don’t control when or how. You do, however, have 100% control over how you respond to challenges. It’s easy (and expected) to stumble and lose momentum in the face of adversity. Instead, this process supports you in remaining focused on the actions you must take, using the emotional connection to the outcome you want to help keep you moving towards your goals.

This kind of focus and commitment gets stronger with exercise and practice like any muscle. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend checking out The Power of Consistency and starting a daily routine of your own.
